Tisch's Tidbits
House Olympics
We had such a great time during our House Olympics! You would be amazed at the teamwork and support the class gave each other. Congrats to Reveur for scoring the top points! They were dreaming big.
Jog-A-Thon
The informational packet and collection envelope should have come home last Friday. The big day is Wednesday, September 28, and we will run in the afternoon. The goal is for each child to collect $50.
PTO Movie Night
The permission slips are due on or before September 19 if your child would like to attend Zootopia on Friday, September 23. The price is $5 for a fun night after school with snacks and friends!
Field Trip
We will be taking our first field trip on Monday, November 21 to the Indiana State Museum. I'm looking for five energetic and interactive parents who would like to lead a group of five students around the museum. There are three levels to the museum including 200 for 200-a collection of 200 artifacts celebrating our birthday. You will be the guide by helping draw the students to the different exhibits, reading around the artifacts, and talking about what is within the museum We will leave around 9:15 and return around 2:00. Please let me know if you are interested!
Cardinals
On Tuesday, November 22, we will continue our celebration of Indiana by sewing cardinals in class! It would be helpful to have five parents here to help a small group of students thread needles and to help the students as they sew. I believe we will be doing this in the morning between 10:30 and 12:30. Please let me know if you are interested!
Multiplication Facts
This week, your child was given access to Xtra math, an online program to help improve math fact skills! The website is www.xtramath.com. The login and password should be taped inside of the planner so your child can do this at home or in school. I have also finished the math fact interviews so next week your child will be working on memorizing five multiplication facts at a time. The facts they showed to have mastered will not be sent home. My goal is for each child to know their math facts by Winter Break. I promise, it will make life in math so much easier! Please work on these facts at home. Just a note that two websites are located at the bottom of the newsletter for easy access to math websites.
Book Fair
The Book Fair is almost here! We will visit as a class so feel free to send money with your child or come with them during a time after school to purchase books if you would like. I will let you know when we are scheduled to visit to purchase books.

The Edge of Extinction
We had the fabulous author, Laura Martin, come speak with us yesterday about her brand new book called The Edge of Extinction. She shared with us what it is like to be an author and how to write stories using characters. If your child would like this book, you can order it through Amazon or if your child would like an autographed copy, if you call Books for Kids, it can be purchased through them and she will sign it! This book is better than Jurassic Park!
REMIND 101
Another way for me to keep in touch is the use of remind 101. Many times I will just send a text reminder instead of an email. To sign up for 2016-17 Parents notifications, please visit
If you already have the Remind101 app, you can search for my class or use @cdc79.
Home Folders
Thank you for viewing your child's folder each week and signing in the Saturday column!
