Substitute Reminders
Remember to text or email the administrators when you will be out for personal or family illness. This helps us know when you will be out and check on your sub and the students. The sub folder should be updated and left on your desk with a copy of the detailed lesson plans (subs need details).
Also, having your top three VIPs in your Aesop profile will ensure you get the sub you want. You can always contact them and let Veronica or Imelda know that you have spoken to the sub.
ACE Tutors Needed
If you are interested in becoming an after school ACE tutor, please let Meghan Hudson know. We are collaborating with the program to provide tutoring to students sooner. With the help of Natashia and Karsten, the lessons will be provided to the tutors. Tutors will choose the days that work best for them. Your time will be compensated by the ACE program.
Word Walls & Print Rich Classrooms

An article that supports our TIGHT of having vocabulary word walls in classrooms. I look forward to seeing and having conversations on how you choose to review words with students and use them in their journals.
Hispanic Heritage Month~ Did you know?
Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.
The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period starting on September 15 and ending on October 15. It was enacted into law on August 17, 1988, on the approval of Public Law 100-402.
The day of September 15 is significant because it is the anniversary of independence for Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September18, respectively. Also, Columbus Day or Día de la Raza, which is October 12, falls within this 30 day period.
