Welch Middle School
Happenings
Dear Wolf Pack Parents & Students,
Congratulations we have survived our first six weeks of instructions. My how time flies when you are having fun learning. As I say to the students each day, keeping our students safe and ensuring our teachers are teaching the TEKS is and will be our 1st priority at Welch MS. The teachers and staff at Welch are committed to providing quality education to all students that will lead them to their career or college of their choice.
We recently had grade level assemblies to review campus school rules, expectations, and award systems. We shared with them how proud we are of how hard they are working and raising to school expectations. Please continue to ensure your child to submit all enrollment forms, continue to read every night, and do complete any missing assignments or homework. Hard work is the key to success. It’s also that time, for parents to check in with your child’s teachers and ensure they are on track with teaching and learning. Every teacher has a conference period, please do not hesitate to reach out and start setting up teacher conferences and ensure your child is on the track to success.
We encourage everyone to follow us on all our social media platforms and visit our school website. You can access important information and get the latest campus and district updates at:

All car riders will be dropped off and picked up in the parking lot near the 6th grade temporary buildings. Wolves travel in a pack- no one will be left behind. Listen and Learn Tour (a message from the Superintendent Dr. Millard House II)
Listen and Learn Tour
Dear Team HISD:
When I started my time with the Houston Independent School District, it was important to me that I get to know the community. For the past two months, I've been visiting campuses and facilities across the district—almost daily—to get a feel for what this district provides and where it needs to go in the future.
Now I'm preparing to take the next step in that journey with a series of town hall meetings. For the next several weeks, I am going to hold the Listen & Learn discussions at locations across HISD. The primary focus of these meetings is not for me or my ideas on how to move this district forward, but rather a chance for me to do exactly what the name suggest—listen and learn.
It is essential that we listen to you—the parents and community of HISD—about what direction this district should take. From the beginning, I have said that I want to work authentically with people and organizations who have traditionally been left out of the shared leadership of HISD. I want to create a place at the table for everyone that wants or needs to be heard.
Together, we will work to support everyone's interests on behalf of students and prove that all voices matter in finding ways to make a meaningful difference. You are the first step in creating a plan for HISD, and I hope you can be a part of it.
Below, you'll find a list of the meetings we will be hosting—9 in-person and 1 virtual—throughout the next few weeks. I hope that you can attend one of these meetings so we can all listen and learn from one another.
The meetings will be held at the locations and times listed below:
• Sharpstown High School (7504 Bissonnet)
Oct. 1
5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
• Lamar High School (3325 Westheimer)
Oct. 4
5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
• Washington High School (4204 Yale)
Oct. 6
5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
In accordance with district health and safety protocols, social distancing will be observed, and masks will be required at all times during the town hall meetings.
