Reading Workshop
In our last FULL WEEK of Reading Workshop as Kindergarteners, we practiced our retelling power. The Maples revisited classroom favorites as well as leveled reading selections and practiced retelling key details (who, what, and where) as well as retelling with emotion so that other readers would be intrigued to read, too.
We learned what tells us a character is speaking - quotation marks! We went on a quotation mark scavenger hunt through many books, and practiced saying the words aloud in a shared reading activity. Below, see some videos of Maples retelling their selections from their book bags!

Writing Workshop
We finished our How-To books, including making covers, stapling pages together, adding color, and making "About The Author" pages.
Integrated Unit - Why Garden?
It was a garden-full week! We made terrariums and created maps of our garden dioramas. The Maples saw the photos they took of our community garden, and created books of their own work.
