Greetings families and Happy New Year. We hope the recent break was restful and filled with memories that your families will treasure. We have missed our Fox Cubs and were absolutely delighted to see them as we returned to school this week. As we embark upon the second of this academic year I thank you once again for your perseverance, strength, and commitment to your child's educational experience in spite of a most challenging time for our country and world. On behalf of our faculty and staff we are forever grateful for all of our parents, guardians, and family members. Thanks for being Strong By Nature!

Our 5th graders will participate in the Science Fair on February 1, 2021. This year the Science Fair will take place in classrooms.

Dear Parents,

At DFES, we have always held to the belief that all students deserve to feel safe, valued and loved. This belief connects to some special activities next week that are part of our district's PBIS programming. During the week of January 11-15, our DFES Fox Cubs will practice making personal connections within our school and community by celebrating the theme of "We are One in 2021". All elementary schools in District Five will be participating in the same activities which are designed to include all students, whether they are learning from their classrooms or from home. Please review the scheduled activities for each day and support your student's involvement. If you have any questions, you may contact me or your child's teacher. We are looking forward to having fun as we enjoy sharing in these activities together!

Kindergarten for the Fall of 2021-2022

Do you know, as the parent/guardian of a current 4K student at DFES, you do not have to register him/her for 5K Kindergarten. You will receive an email in early summer directing you to enter information on the Registration Gateway UPDATE Portal site. Be sure we have current contact information on file!

If your child will be 5 years old but is not in 4K, registration will start at the end of January. Email Sharon Clemens at or call 803-476-3917 for more information.

School of Choice and Magnet Option

January is the time for families living in other D5 attendance areas to apply for their rising 5K-5th grade students to attend Dutch Fork Elementary School's Academy of Environmental Sciences Magnet. Kindergarten students must be 5 years old by September 1, 2021. Once a student is accepted to attend, no further yearly applications are necessary: the student may remain through 5th grade. The School of Choice online lottery window opens on Monday, January 11, 2021. Find more information about the School of Choice & Magnet Application here:
