Bring Your Own Device at East
What You Need to Know about BYOD
Beginning with the 2018-2019 school year, each student in grades 6 through 12 will be required to bring an approved mobile computing device. Information about BYOD has been shared throughout the 2017-2018 school year. If you wish to see more information you can visit the BYOD web page to learn more about the BYOD plan.
All FTMS East families have two choices for selecting the plan that is best for them:
- Students may purchase their own device or,
- Students may rent a device from the school corporation.
Personal Devices:
Students who are supplying their own device should have enrolled their device at this time. Those students who have yet to enroll their personal device can complete this process by visiting the BYOD Device Enrollment page. If a personal device was not enrolled a $50 fee is placed on the student's fees statement. This fee will be waived once we have confirmed enrollment of your personal device.
Rental Devices:
Students who have decided to rent a device will pick-up and enroll their device during Flash Focus. A fee of $50 will be placed on your student's fees statement (Chromebook Rental Fee).
BACK TO SCHOOL SHOPPING: Dress Code Reminders
Please make sure your student is dressed for success for the 2018-2019 School Year!
DRESS CODE STANDARDS - Students are expected to maintain an appearance that is appropriate for school and conducive to the educational atmosphere. Whenever a school official considers a student’s appearance to be inappropriate, immodest or distracting to the educational environment, a conference will be held and the student will be asked to make the necessary accommodations. The following are examples of clothing or items that are considered to be inappropriate:
- Clothing and/or any adornment displaying messages not appropriate for school. Examples would be messages containing profanity, sexual innuendo, depicting violence, and references to drugs, alcoholic beverages or tobacco products
- Clothing revealing bare midriffs, shirts and tops must be able to be tucked in
- Clothing which reveals undergarments
- No head coverings, except those worn for religious purposes, may be worn. Other requests must be submitted in writing to the principal. Hats are not to be carried or displayed. Examples of headwear would be sweatbands, scarves, bandanas and earmuffs.
- Heavy winter or long coats worn in class or throughout the school day in the building
- House slippers and gloves
- Sagging pants or shorts worn more than two inches below the hips
- Shorts, pants, skirts and dresses need to be of an appropriate length. The guide to use is the length of the fingers as the arm hangs down the side
- Strapless, spaghetti strap, or tank tops. Studded or spiked items, chains, or any item that might cause a concern for student safety
*Students who violate the dress code will face disciplinary action. The administration reserves the right to determine appropriate dress or attire.

Transportation News
7/23/18
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Welcome to another great year with Franklin Township Community School Corporation! You will find bus stop location and time at the FTCSC website www.ftcsc.org/transportation. Look for the Bus Route Information tab, this will be a link to the routing software. You will be able to check your student’s bus number, bus stop location, and pick up/drop off times. This will be updated after July 26th with the correct information. If you do not get the information needed, we will have staff available at the elementary ice-cream socials on Monday, July 30 from 5:30-7:00 or you may call the transportation office at 317-862-2314. Please realize changes are made daily, we recommend checking the website for final changes the night before school begins.
There are a few items pertinent to the success of your child riding a FTCSC school bus. First and foremost is to be at the designated bus stop 10 minutes prior to the scheduled bus stop times. The first days of school the bus drivers may be a few minutes late due to getting their route times ironed out. We don’t want to miss anyone, so please allow extra time in the morning and afternoon. In the afternoons we take every precaution to ensure all children get on the correct buses. This means that the buses may leave the schools later than the scheduled time which will delay your child’s arrival by a few minutes.
Transportation can only provide rides to and from the assigned bus stop. FTCSC’s goal is to provide a safe and secure experience for our students. In order to do this, we need to ensure that all students will be picked up and dropped off at the appropriate location. In addition, this allows FTCSC to maximize bus capacity and routing efficiencies. Please do not send notes to the school, give notes to the drivers, or contact the transportation office with requested changes, as we will be unable to assist and this practice creates confusion. Thank you for your understanding in this matter. If you have different pick-up and drop-off locations the Alternate Pick- Up/Drop-Off form located on the Transportation Webpage listed below. This form must be filled out each year.
Our Discipline Form which follows the guidelines in your student handbook is available on the FTCSC website under Transportation. Please cover bus expectations with your students.
Transportation page on the FTCSC website – www.ftcsc.org/transportation . Look for ‘Franklin Township Transportation’ on Facebook!
Thanks so much for helping prepare for this school year. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at the number listed above.
Sincerely,
Karen Schuldt
Supervisor of Transportation
