Early Release Reminder

Next week we have our first early release day. On Wednesday, September 1st, elementary students are dismissed at 2:10 pm.

PTO Mum Sale!

Don't forget to order your mums by Wednesday! Here's a link to the flyer.

Extras!

We are running low on clothing in our nurse's office. If anyone has extra clothing for school-aged children that you are willing to part with, feel free to send it in. We can keep it our nurse's office for emergencies.

We are going through a lot of masks at school. It would be great if children all had at least one extra mask in their backpack that they can swap out during the day if needed.

Additionally, having an extra set of clothes in their backpack would also be helpful. We've got wet slides and mud puddles that are very enticing. If kids have extras in their bag, it makes a quick change very easy.

Thank you!

PTO-DIRECTORY SPOT

Our 2021-2022 Ferson Creek Elementary School directory, DirectorySpot, is waiting for you!

Please complete this form to be included:

https://FersonCreekPTO.tiny.us/2021-2022DirectoryRegistration

REMEMBER, you can share as much or as little info as you'd like, but you need a minimum of one valid email address in order to log in to the system.

DirectorySpot can be accessed from the free app on your smartphone (Apple or Android) or from the website and it will always be updated with the latest information. The app is very secure; only parents and staff of our school will be granted access with personal login credentials. If you would like more information on the security features, please click on this link: https://www.directoryspot.net/security.php.

The directory will provide only information that families choose to share. The data can be updated any time throughout the year, so you can opt out, opt in, or update the data you choose to share any time. (If you opt out of sharing information in the directory, you will not have a way to access the directory.)

Once we have your data uploaded, you will get an email with instructions on how to download DirectorySpot and set your password.

Why DirectorySpot?

DirectorySpot has many useful features. You can call, text, or email other parents or teachers with one click, right from the app. You can auto dial when you click on a phone number, and auto launch maps when you click on an address. If you hold down the cell phone number, you will get an option to send a text or call the number (iPhone only). DirectorySpot will even create an email if you click on someone's email address.

How do I access DirectorySpot?

In order to access the directory, you must first complete the online form to be included in DirectorySpot. When completing the form, you will need to share at least one valid email address (that will also be used for your username). Once your information is uploaded into the directory, you will receive an automated email with instructions to set a new password, if needed, and where to find the directory. If you opt out of sharing information in the directory, you will not be allowed to access the directory.

IF YOU WERE IN DIRECTORYSPOT IN THE PAST, YOU STILL NEED TO RE-ENTER YOUR FAMILY’S INFORMATION IN ORDER TO HAVE ACCESS TO THE DIRECTORY THIS YEAR. ALL DATA FROM THE PAST HAS BEEN CLEARED TO MAKE ROOM FOR THIS YEAR’S INFORMATION.

SHIELD Testing

We have completed two weeks of SHIELD testing in D303. Our testing takes place on Wednesday afternoons. Results are usually in the following morning however, you will only be notified if your child is positive. In this instance, no news is good news!

SHIELD testing can be used to keep students in school when identified as a classroom close contact through the Test-to-Stay protocol. “This allows students to avoid quarantine by testing on days one, three, five and seven after exposure as long as they continue to test negative.” (IDPH). Students and staff who continue to test negative will be permitted to stay in the classroom and participate in extracurricular activities.

· The ability to engage in the Test-to-Stay process is determined by KCHD, as they will assess the level of risk associated with each individual situation.

· To be eligible for Test-to-Stay, the individual must be registered for SHIELD testing at least five business days prior to the day of exposure. Individuals cannot join the SHIELD program and become eligible for Test-to-Stay following an exposure.

· The Test-to-Stay strategy is only applicable when both the individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 and the close contact were engaged in proper and consistent mask wearing, as recommended by the CDC.

Testing at least once a week maximizes our ability to find infections early and break the transmission chain. Testing weekly, in combination with effective contact tracing, will give us the ability to monitor asymptomatic cases and transmission rates in our buildings. The goal of the Test-to-Stay program is to avoid out-of-school quarantines whenever possible by frequently testing students/staff who are deemed close contacts to a positive individual in the school setting. Both of these testing strategies promote safe in-person learning.

Please see https://www.uillinois.edu/shield for more information about the SHIELD testing program.
