Thank you to all PUE families that came out to TreeTop Runner last week. What an awesome time!!! We had a great turn out and will definitely do it again next year.
A huge thank you to Parker Ress, Laura Cox, Jenne Kendziora and Dee Hatley for organizing and hosting the 5th grade staff appreciation lunch yesterday. Also, thank you to all of the 5th grade parents that were so generous and donated for the lunch. The teachers LOVED it!!!!
Magic Dan is coming to PUE next Wednesday, October 10th at 6:30pm to perform a Spooky Magic Show. Click on the following link to pre-order your pizza (pre-order required by October 8th). Spooky Magic Pizza
BETTER TOGETHER CAMPAIGN
The Better Together Campaign kicked off on September 10th. We are halfway there!! Ms Woronka is our top fundraising class, Ms Parrish comes in 2nd and Ms Leavitt is 3rd! Thank you so much to the 85 families that have made their Better Together contributions. The PTA and the school greatly thanks you. We need the other 425 families to make their contributions in order to meet our goal of $20,000 by October 26th. Just go to http://www.puepta.com and click the "Donate" button to make your tax-deductible donation! Make sure to include your child's name in the special instructions so the classroom will receive their rewards. Remember that for ONLY 19.4 cents a day for a child or 27.7 cents a day for a family you can enable our PTA to reach their goal of $20,000. What a great way to invest in the children.
Parent's Night Out
The PUE PTA will be hosting a Parent's Night Out on Friday, October 12th, from 6:30 - 9:30 PM. Doors will NOT open until 6:30 (promptly), our staff needs to eat dinner and also set up for the night. You must sign up for this before 10/10 so we can plan for enough staff and resources for activities.
Moms & Dads, PNO is ONLY OPEN to PUE students K-5, payable $10 per child. Cost is $10 per student. Click here to register your child. Registration must be complete and paid by Wednesday, October 10th. Parents Night Out, Friday October 12, 2018
This is a PTA event that will help pay for a future activities in After School (summer activities next year). If you are a parent of an After School Program student, you will still be REQUIRED to pick up/sign out your child BEFORE coming to this event, late fees will still be charged.
The evening will include floor activities (building games, action heroes, Barbies, etc) in the gym, outside playgrounds will be open with a nerf football & baseball games, fall crafts, video games will be open after 8 pm, and a variety of fall movies will be played in the gym with popcorn for snack. Children will have the same rules as we do in after school in that they are able to pick what they want to do. Besides popcorn, no other snack food will be served due to allergies.
If your child brings dinner, they may eat in the cafe. There will be a roster sheet in the gym so please sign-in first at the gym before you leave and then please sign the kids out in the gym when you pick them up.

We hope that your child's teacher has alerted you by now about the READvolution program that kicked off last Monday. Please read below how the program works. If you have any questions please contact our school READvolution rep Kayla Perry (email@example.com).
The Wake County Schools are excited to once again partner with the Carolina Hurricanes to implement READvolution in all of our elementary schools. This year, READvolution will start and end earlier so we avoid major holidays and Winter Break. Kick-off was on Monday, September 24 and wrap-up will be on Friday, November 16. The goal however remains reading daily for 20 minutes and 800 minutes cumulatively over the eight-weeks.
Just like in 2017-18, this year’s challenge features both individual and school-wide components. Based on last year’s feedback, we are excited to announce that the Carolina Hurricanes will award students who achieve the reading goal of 20 minutes per day throughout the allotted time frame (for a total of 800 minutes) will receive two complimentary ticket vouchers to a Hurricanes home game.
For the school-wide component, schools that collectively read 2,020 books between Sept. 24 and Nov. 16 will be entered into a drawing by region to participate in this year’s Cool School Field Trip to the PNC Arena in February 2019. If your school is selected from the drawing to attend the Cool School Field Trip, students will have the opportunity to see a Hurricanes practice, participate in fun activities, and hear from the players.
Schools that were selected for the 2018 Cool School Field Trip that achieve the 2,020 goal this year will have their names entered into their regional drawing once. Schools that were not selected in 2018 and achieve the 2,020 goal will have their names entered into the drawing twice. Please note you can always participate in the READvolution initiative but opt-out of participation in the drawing for the Cool School Field Trip.
Guides have been created to share with families and school staff to help log reading and books into the READvolution Dashboard. Go to video overview to find out how to log in new books. Also go to the following links for more parent information on READvolution and a "info sheet" on signing books in.
LANDSCAPE CLEAN UP DAY
Our Fall clean up day originally scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 22 has been moved to Saturday, October 20 from 9-12. Our focus will be the front carpool/bus loop rounds, and the front of the K-1 building near the parking lot. Depending on how many people attend, we may extend our work to the back of the K-1 hallway. Please bring yard tools, clippers, and blowers. We will not be doing "heavy" work- rather a fall clean up session. If interested in helping with landscaping events, please join the Landscaping Hub in MemberHub. You may also send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org for questions, comments and suggestions.
We greatly need volunteers to help make this a success! Water and snacks will be provided by the PTA. Students are welcome to participate and their parents must also be present. We hope to see you there!
