WHO DO I CONTACT???? Human Resources Department changes

The Garfield Re-2 Human Resources team is changing. We are pleased to announce that Kala Reece will join the Garfield Re-2 family June 27, 2020 as our new Director of Human Resources. She was selected from three excellent candidates that wereinterviewed last week for the position. Welcome Kala!

You may know that former Director of Human Resource Elizabeth Rinaldi left Garfield Re-2 at the end of June to pursue her career in California and be closer to her family.

HR Generalist Victoria (Tori) Harbottle has also left our team. Her last day was Tuesday, July 7. We are currently seeking a replacement. We wish both Elizabeth and Tori well as they pursue their next adventures.

We are fortunate to have Rewa Gaudern and Chalsea Cortez to provide HR support in the short-term.

Kassady Crawford and Erin Leary in conjunction with Assistant Superintendent Lisa Pierce are committed to supporting our staff with their Human Resources needs. Continue to send your questions to hr@garfieldre2.net. Several people monitor this account and they will support you as quickly as they can.

Employment Contracts and Reasonable Assurance and Contract Language clarification

All certified staff and administrators should have received employment contracts electronically via TalentEd Records. Please look for an email from TalentEd to sign your contract. You will notice that teacher contracts are longer this year. They have been updated to reflect current Colorado Revised Statutes (§ 22-63-202). If you should have questions regarding your employment contract, once received, please contact the Human Resources department via email at hr@garfieldre2.net.

Classified staff that work less than 12 months per fiscal year are subject to reasonable assurance each year. If you have not yet received your reasonable assurance via an email from TalentEd Records, please contact the Human Resources Department via email at hr@garfieldre2.net.

*Please note that if you are a full time, 260 day employee, reasonable assurance does not apply to you in your position. We are aware that some staff that are not subject to reasonable assurance might have received notification that they had a document ready for signature. Please disregard this email if you are not a Classified staff member that works less than 12 months per fiscal year.

Thank you,

Your HR Team

Return to Learning 2020-21 Update

Principals and Directors will meet on July 14 - 16 to discuss the recommendations that the Safety, Instruction and Parent Engagement task forces have made regarding Garfield Re-2's Return to Learning 2020-21.

About 90 staff members and parents spent many hours listening, reading, researching, synthesizing, and creating to provide information to Principals and Directors to clarify. More to come. . .

Garfield County Food Resource List from Public Health

You may know families that need assistance. Below is information from the Garfield County Dept. of Public Health

During this period of high demand for food resources at food banks, we encourage all families to determine if they qualify for additional food resources in the community. The benefits they can receive monthly may help to stabilize the family’s food budget and offer more choices for what they eat.

Garfield Re-2 School Board meetings move to Monday Nights

Beginning July 20, the Garfield Re-2 School Board meetings will move to Monday nights. A complete schedule will be posted on the Garfield Re-2 School Board page shortly.

The Board is also providing additional, live, opportunities for public comment at school board meetings while we are continuing to adapt to public health physical distancing requirements.

Citizens will still be able to send an email to publicaudience@garfieldre2.net and have it read into the record. Emails must be received by 4:30 p.m. the day of the school board meeting and should include your name, physical address and phone number.

***NEW *** Citizens can also comment via Zoom or in person. Board meetings must continue to meet public health guidance and currently - per physical distancing guidelines - we can still have a limited number of people in the board room. However, the Board will take "reservations" for either Zoom or in-person comments during public audience by sending an email to publicaudience@garfieldre2.net by 4:30 p.m. the day of the school board meeting.

Specifics for this new process will be drafted soon.
