Happening this week...

Students should all have trust cards now and be enjoying the privileges associated with them including use of the Maker Space. See the notices below about the use of the Maker Space and instructions for 3-D printing.


Three week grades are posted. Please be diligent in checking Skyward for grades. The tutoring schedule is attached below if you need to retake a test or are experiencing difficulty in mastering the objectives in your classes.


All 6th graders should be reading a book either through iLit, Destiny, or our physical library.

Pre-AP Science ~ Mrs. Sanchez and Ms. Marek


Marek PAP - To make up a missed test or attend tutoring and retake a test, please see me during my tutoring times (Tues./Thurs. 4:00-4:30) or schedule a tutoring time with me. This week we are launching Our Organisms and Environments Unit: Project E.C.O.
Sanchez- We will continue with our SSEP experiments with completing our proposal and tri-fold boards. Please check the tutoring schedule to make up a test or attend tutoring for a retake.

STEAM Science ~ Mrs. Sanchez and Ms. Hernandez


Marek - We will continue with our SSEP experiments and work on completing our proposal and tri-fold boards. We will have a test on Experimental Design on Friday Oct. 27th. Study resources will be posted to Google Classroom.

Accelerated Science ~ Mrs. Irons

We will culminate our studies of atoms and the Periodic Table this week. We will be testing 8.5ABC on Friday, October 27. The following week students will be building their products for the unit. Please ask them if there are supplies they will need and what, if any, supplies I am able to provide.

We will begin Unit 3, Track-or-Treat, which will cover comparing and ordering rational numbers. Students will be working with fractions and decimals and will begin to track their own data from their test scores. Students will continue to track their data all year.


The Unit 3 Vocabulary test will be on Friday, October 27th. Please make sure your child is reviewing the words and their definitions. Students have access to review material in Google Classroom.

This week students will begin learning about volume of 3-dimensional figures. This will be the last part of our unit before students reveal their completed clues to find the cure for the Zombie outbreak. Students will be taking their Unit 2 Part 2 test next Tuesday, October 31st.

Humanities ~ Mrs. Moore, Ms. Lindamood, Mrs. Strother and Ms. Peden


Students will begin close writing workshop and produce a compare/contrast summative assessment essay. Students will conclude their study of United States and Canada and prepare for a test on Monday October 30.

Global Business and Professional Communication ~ Ms. Tedford and Ms. Owen

This week students will collaborate with their teams to create rubrics that will guide them in giving each other specific feedback on the Slides they have designed and the presentation skills they use to share their Slides. Then they will have the opportunity to make changes to their presentations based on the critique they receive before they share their presentations with the whole class next week.

Art ~ Mrs. Beam

  • This week we will continue our Value & Realism unit. Students will begin working on a series of drawings focusing on detail, charcoal, and pencil.

  • Save the Date! STEAM Holiday Art Show & Artome Sale will take place on Dec. 1st in the evening at STEAM. More details to come!


Beginning Band ~ Mr. Sypert

Please encourage your students to practice at least 15 minutes a day, and make sure that they are completing their videos.
