We Roar Day 1
On Friday, September 13, Norton City Schools had its first We Roar day. What a powerful day throughout the district, especially at NES! Throughout the day, students and staff participated in a number of activities promoting positive relationships and community as well as fostering ways of dealing with conflict, life challenges, and adversity. Amidst great conversations, there were some tears, lots of laughs, and much unity for everyone at NES. Some students described it as one of their best days at school. How cool is that?! As a district, we're looking forward to continued focus on building people full of strength and warmth.
Halloween Parties and Alternative Activities
NES will be hosting holiday parties on October 25. Information will be coming home the first week in October. To preview the flyer, click the link below. This year, we are also offering alternative non-holiday activities including a snack provided by our school counselor and our counseling intern. Please contact Mrs. School at rschool@nortonschools.org if you would like your child to participate in the alternative activities.
Fall Festival
Panthers Clawset
Did you know that NES has a closet for gently used clothing, jackets, and shoes. Please contact the office if you are in need of items for students in grades 1-4. Our office staff can also assist you in finding clothing for preschoolers and students in grades 5-12.
NES also has additional backpacks and school supplies. Please contact the office if your child is in need of school supplies or a new backpack!
Feed My Starving Children
Three years ago, Norton City Schools partnered with Grace Church, Norton Police Department and other community organizations to set a goal of providing 1,000,000 meals to people in our local community, across our region, and around the world. We are in year three and will be hosting one final Feed My Starving Children Event across the district. This year, NES will be hosting the event.
We are proud to support this community initiative! This is a great serving opportunity for kids in grades kindergarten and older to be part of a large community effort to provide meals around the world! There are still a few remaining spots to help. Click on the link to register.

Interested in signing up for a "Blessing in a backpack"? Last year, area churches provided bags of food (snack items, peanut butter, mac-n-cheese and other items) to NES students on Fridays. Contact the NES office if you would like your child to receive one of these Blessings in a Backpack.
Also, we would like to thank all the Norton and Barberton families who donated canned food last month. These donations directly impacted local families.
State Testing-Grade 3
As a reminder, students will take the OST in the fall and spring to attempt to meet a minimum passing score. Students may also be promoted to 4th grade with a score of 194 or higher on the MAP reading assessment (fall, winter, or spring). Please contact your teacher or the office for questions.
