Graduation is tomorrow!
Hello Class of 2021 Families!
Graduation is tomorrow! Here are a few items you should know...
If you haven't, you can still sign up for your Graduation time!
The ceremony is Drive-Thru
The Drive-Thru Ceremony will be in front of our Gym on the corner of NE 3rd Ave & NE Grant St (452 NE 3rd Ave)
Check our website for a map of the layout
Please come at the time you signed up for (3:30-5:30 is PACKED!)
You are welcome to change your time to an earlier spot if you'd like a few extra minutes
During your time, the graduate will walk from their car up the runner, pick up their diploma cover & gift, turn & pause for photos and then have an opportunity for family photos.
Graduates can be mask free while walking
Families are able to be out of their car and can watch from the designated area at the start of the runner
Caps CAN be decorated
If you purchased your cap - bust out your craftiness and decorate your cap!
Diplomas will be mailed at the end of the month
Please contact Kristina Estrada (estradak@hsd.k12.or.us) you have any questions about the ceremony.
Chromebooks & Hotspots
Due to the pandemic, Technology Services is not asking us to collect devices and would instead prefer that those who do not have computers retain access over the summer.
If you will be moving or if you have other arrangements, you can drop off your tech to HOA by June 17th. If you plan to transfer to a neighborhood school, you will be able to turn in HOA devices to that school as well.
Report Cards
District mail does not get forwarded by the Post Office and gets returned to us.
Thank you for being a part of the HOA family
Homeschool families wishing to remain active in programs with Hillsboro Online will also need to renew their In-District Transfer.
If you moved out of district after May 31, please contact our office to discuss options. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our office directly.
A message from the District Nurses
Dear Parent/Guardian:
If your child has a Health Management Plan (HMP), it is uploaded into their document section in Synergy to give teachers important health information access. Please review your child’s HMP on ParentVUE in the document section. Also, check that the information listed in the health portion of ParentVUE is still accurate. (Contact your child’s school if you need an activation key or a printed copy.)
⮚ If there is a change on the HMP or updates in the ParentVUE health section needed, please contact HSD District Nurse assigned to your child’s school by August 23rd.
⮚ If nursing is not notified of any changes, the uploaded HMP will be implemented as is.
It is important that school staff have the most up to date information to ensure your child’s health and safety at school. Contact your District Nurse throughout the school year with any changes in your child’s condition.
Sincerely,
Hillsboro School District Nurse Team

A message from the District Office
HSD Students and Families,
We are writing to you today to clarify students’ instructional options for the 2021-22 school year. In 2021-22, we plan to offer full-time, in-person instruction to all students at either their neighborhood school or the school from which they have received a transfer approval. This is the default assumption for every student who is not currently enrolled at Hillsboro Online Academy (HOA).
Students who transferred to HOA rather than participate in Comprehensive Distance Learning (CDL) or the Hybrid Model in the 2020-21 school year, received a separate communication letting them know they will be returned to their neighborhood school unless they request a new transfer to HOA for the 2021-22 school year.
Families that would prefer their student continue in a full-time CDL model where they receive all of their instruction online (available for grades K-8 only), are asked to complete the online HSD transfer application no later than Friday, June 11 so we can staff that option appropriately.
It is important to note that students in grades K-8 who select the CDL model will not be directly tied to their neighborhood school. They will be attending classes with students from across their feeder at the elementary level, and with all students who select that model at the middle school level.
For information about the differences between in-person instruction, the CDL model, and HOA, please see this table. We have prepared a video explaining these options; please watch it and do one of the following:
- If your child will be attending their neighborhood school or school of approved transfer in 2021-22, no action is required on your part.
- If you want your child to participate in full-time CDL or if you wish to enroll them at Hillsboro Online Academy, please complete the online HSD transfer application no later than Friday, June 4. If you need a paper copy of the application, please click here or contact your school’s main office.
- For the full-time CDL model:
- Please select “CDL South K-6” if you live in the Century or Hilhi attendance area.
- Please select “CDL North K-6” if you live in the Glencoe or Liberty attendance area.
- Please select “CDL 7-8” if your child attends middle school.
Thank you,
