Riskys Behavior Upon Return To Civilian Life
Not every veterans or soldiers who return home has a happy ending some may still feel that the war is still apart of their life and that they must do something reckless to keep it away from their minds.
Micheal gross
severed two tours in Iraq for 7 years. He suffer from pdst and has nightmares every night of how he was on a patrol and imagine the 8 year old girl he killed. When he returns home by honorable discharge he finds out his wife has a new husband and has taken the kids the house and the cars.so since he lost everything he ask his brother if he can live with him Micheal works as a bail bonds man .He started to drink and take pills when all he had was lost and would turn his focus on researching about insurgents. Micheal is not allowed to see his kids because his wife fear he would kill them because of his pdst and mistake them as insurgents.
Austin Jenkins
Jenkins reports that when the 5th stryker brigade was on their transitions to home many of the solders couldn't help but be in the need of Adrenaline. Most of them tell story of how life in war was hard and that sometimes they fear for their lives but when making returning back just to blow off steam from the time they'd serviced almost all solder felt like life should be lived to the fullest. So some would either go a motorcycle and drive 130 mph to clear there mind of the horrors of war or sky dive and feel the wind rush upon their faces for 17 seconds but one thing for sure is this lead to many risky behaviors. If they were to just sit and do nothing while at home they feel the depression kick in and remember how most of their friends never made it out alive and this caused most soldiers to commit suicides.
Jimmy Dooley
jimmy Dooley is a counselor for the VA in Vermont he talked to a variety of veterans and explains that when they would return home some often would check and see the total death rate of men that died in war or scan their house to see if anybody was watching them or shut windows or peep out of windows for enemies or stay up all night and get no sleep or even eat. jimmy concluded that veterans felt that life back at home was point less everyone goes on with life not knowing that the other side of the world is like hell. Many veterans would say they would be told "thank you for your service" by people at home and some would take it offensive and repeat "why don't you do something for a change." and this would sometimes make the public seem that veterans need help.
