Weekly Note
April 13th-17th
Hello Parents! We had a very busy week in Kindergarten! Check out all the wonderful things we accomplished!
Countdown to the Spring Concert!
On Tuesday, we were able to watch the Pre-K students sing their hearts out to silly songs! On Wednesday, we started our Spring Concert rehearsals! Students have been receiving extra music classes all week and will tomorrow as well in preparation for our Spring Concert on Tuesday! Please plan to arrive around 9 to find a seat and the show will last until approximately 10 with light refreshments afterwards! Please see the reminder in the email sent out with our Smore link from Ms. Moser regarding costume attire! If you have not already done so, please be sure to send in a pair of khaki shorts and summer footwear to accompany the rest of your child's costume! Thank you so much for your help in this matter!
Community Helpers in our Neighborhood!
This week, students have been completing a lot more work to accompany our Project Based Learning Unit on Community Helpers in our Neighborhood! On Monday, students wrote about their experience with Mr. Malicki (Kayla's dad) and his visit about being a police officer! Throughout the week in reading groups, students all read about different types of community helpers! In Art class, students have been working with Mrs. Seltzer to build their own neighborhood, which will be on display at the art show! On Thursday, students dressed up as a community helper they would like to be when they grow up and we created an imovie with all of our reasons why! This is still being edited and will be available soon! Throughout this upcoming week, we will be learning more about community helpers, continuing to build our neighborhood in art, and also thinking about a community helper we would like to write to!
Content Area Learning
This week in Language Arts, students continued to learn about plants! Students wrote about their experience at Tyler Arboretum. We also read several new non fiction books about plants and how they grow. Coming up this week in class, we will be celebrating Earth Day! Students will be planting their own plants and learning about different ways to take care of our earth!
This week in Math, students finished their study of Three Dimensional, Solid Shapes! Students did a great job with this and even completed a solid shape scavenger hunt at home and brought in shapes to share with the class! Students completed the week with their Solid Shape test and did a wonderful job!
This week in Word Study, students focused on "ell", "et", and sight words in their lists. Students practiced these words by completing word searches, box fill ins, word sorts, and word study journal activities! We ended the week with our word study test and we are all doing very well with this!
