A Message from the Principal
Lauren Meeks
Mustang Pride!
Dear Parents,
The doors to the school open at 7:20am. Any students dropped off before that time are required to wait outside the school building and are not monitored by adults. Safety is our primary concern, so we ask that students not be dropped off before 7:20am. If it is absolutely necessary to drop your student off before 7:20am, we cannot guarantee the safety of the student. Additionally, we request that students not play with balls or toys while waiting outside the building. There are many cars driving through the parking lot during this time and it is dangerous to have balls and toys flying into the roadway.
Thank you for your support as we strive to maintain the safest environment possible for our students and families.
We hope you all have a great weekend!
Lauren, Maggie, & Erin
Math Pentathlon!
This year, Math Pentathlon will be coordinated by parent volunteers. If you are interested in coaching or volunteering to help run this program, please reach out to Bobbi Paramasivam at parksidemathpclub@gmail.com.
Program Details:
There will be a program fee of $15 per student for all students who participate in the program. The fee will cover refurbishing games, pizza for practice nights, materials needed to operate the program, etc. There will be an opportunity for all participants and their families to purchase a Math Pentathlon shirt upon being offered a spot in the program.
While we would love to be able to offer this program to any students interested, the reality is that we are limited to the number of students we can accept. Depending on interest, there is a chance that not all students will get a spot this year. However, the more coaches and volunteers we have, the more kids we can serve! So, be sure to let us know in the form if you are willing to help out this year!
This form will close on Thursday, September 26th.
Thank you,
The Math P Team
Rouse Homecoming Parade!
Come walk with your Parkside student in the Rouse Homecoming Parade!
Join us as we show our school spirit in support of Rouse High School on Wednesday, Sept. 25th. Bring the whole family in Parkside colors - your favorite school t-shirt, tutu's, crazy socks, pom poms, posters, and anything else you think might make your Mustang gallop through the parade.
All students must be accompanied by an adult and should meet Mrs. Meeks, Mrs. Jistel, Ms. Uhlaender, and staff at 6 pm near the main entrance to Wiley Middle School (change from my previous communication). Pick-up will be back at the flag pole near the main entrance of Rouse High School as soon as the parade is over.
The parade is followed by the presentation of the RHS Homecoming Court and fireworks at the football field. Hope to see you there!
Site Based Committee
These committees are composed of district employees, community members, business representatives and parents. SBPC members provide input to the principal on a wide variety of subjects, with an aim of improving the achievement of all students. The committees address such areas as planning, curriculum, budgeting, staff development, staffing patterns and school organization.
If you are interested in being a member of the Parkside Site-Based Committee, please fill out the form below. You must attend the first meeting on October 9th at 4:00pm to be a part of the committee. Future dates will be communicated at the first meeting.
A Note from Nurse Caitlin
Dear Parents/Guardians of 5th grade girls:
Our school will do spinal screenings on 10/7-10/8. State law says that schools must screen female students for spinal problems at age 10 and 12 or the fall semester of grade 5.
Important Recommendations:
· All students will have to remove their shirt for the exam.
· Girls should wear a sports bra or two-piece swimsuit top.
If you do not wish to have your child screened for religious reasons, you must submit an exemption to the school no later than 9/30/19. Please refer to the email from your child’s teacher for more information. Thank you for your cooperation and please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Nurse Caitlin
