Charles A. Upson
Thank you for your continued support!
Effective January 22, 2019, the Lockport City School District instituted the Raptor ID system for anyone wishing to visit the classrooms within the regular school day. In an effort to minimize interruptions to the educational setting, these visits will still be limited. In the event that permission is granted to go into a classroom, visitors/volunteers are required to provide the secretary with a government issued ID (driver’s license). This will be scanned and a photo ID sticker will be provided to you, identifying you as a visitor in the school. This will replace the “pink passes” used at Charles A. Upson Elementary School. If you are dropping off or picking up your child or an item (sneakers, lunch, backpack, etc.), you will not be required to do this as you are only visiting the Main Office. Thank you in advance for your patience during this transition.
As a reminder, our school day begins at 9:20 and dismissal begins at 3:30. With the unpredictable WNY weather, we will refer to the actual and “feels like” temperatures when determining whether or not to go outside for recess. We will err on the side of safety first and keep students inside if the temperature, wind, ice and/or snow becomes questionable. With that being said, we will make attempts to get the students outside for some fresh air as often as safely possible. Please be sure you continue to send your child to school ready for recess. This includes coats, snow pants, boots, hats and mittens. Although the nurse may have an “extra” item for a student to borrow, there is a very limited supply at school.
