Mrs. Summers' Newsletter

February 5, 2016

Its Been a Great Week!

We finished our book The Toothpaste Millionaire and started looking at biographies. The students worked hard on their culminating flow maps. The kids have really enjoyed getting familiar with rocks and minerals. They are working hard on finishing their poems for you to enjoy. In math, the second graders worked with fractions.

Things to Look Forward to Next Week!

We will work on reading our biography books and filling out our journal. We will finish our rocks and minerals unit. We will be working on publishing our poems. In math the second graders will be finishing their fractions unit. I plan to test on Wednesday.

We will have a Valentine's Day party on Friday next week. The children can send in valentines for each child in the class. Please do NOT send in any food, candy, or treats. Our wonderful PTO is taking care of the food. :)

On Friday, February 12 you are invited to a Poetry Cafe by Mrs. Summers' and Mrs. Hill's class. You can come and enjoy our fabulous poems. The cafe will be open from 9:00-10:00ish.

There is no school on Monday, February 15 in honor of Presidents' Day.

Yearbooks are $15. You can send in money or a check payable to Lifetouch, or you can order online at The ID code is 12580016. Orders are due by February 26.

Please look for your child's Token Report to come home today. Please sign it and return it in the Rocket Folder on Monday.

If your child has any exciting news to share - winner of a competition, getting a certain color belt in Tae-Kwon-Do, etc., please send me a picture. I would love to feature them in my newsletter. :)
