These are for our Vogeltown learners to be:
Inclusive (Whakaru), Respectful (Whakaute), Original (Tipu), Courageous (Kaha) and Kind (Atawhai).
These values were chosen by the staff, learners and community of Vogeltown School in 2019.
This term we are focusing on being 'respectful'.
TE REO FOCUS FOR THE WEEK
KIA ORA VS WHANAU, FROM MR O
A big thanks to our Vogeltown teaching staff who continue to provide excellent programmes of learning and continue to make progress with all our learners. We have an amazing team here at Vogeltown and we are very lucky to have such a dedicated team of kaiako.
At lunchtimes we have clubs running for our tamariki - especially when it is wet. To let you know:
Monday - Lego club (Rm 14) with Mrs Seed
Tuesday - Coding & Scratch club (Rm 10) with Mr Bishop
Wednesday - Game in the hall with Mrs Lewis
Thursday - Running club with Mrs Irving
Friday - Chill out club (Rm 13) with Ms PrettyAll kids are welcome to these clubs - it gives them another option at lunchtimes.
This week we said goodbye to our current Board of Trustees after their 3 year tenure came to an end. We also said goodbye to two of Board of Trustee members as they finish their time with Vogeltown and are not seeking re-election. A big thanks to Rebecca Williamson who has been in charge of the Policies portfolio for the last 3 years and to Nita Hutchinson who has taken on many roles for the BOT over her 9 years on the Vogeltown Board of Trustees. We thank you for all they have done for the Board, the staff and the kids over their time here.
This is also a good time to remind you of the Board of Trustee elections. We have 8 parent representatives for the new Board - which is awesome! We only need 5 parent representatives, so we are going to have an election. We posted out yesterday all the voting papers, so check your letterbox, vote and send them back to school.
A massive well done to Rachel Pretty who will be our Staff Board Rep - Rachel stood uncontested. Thanks heaps Rach!
Our tamariki are involved in cross country training each day. This is really good for our learners as they develop the fitness for the school cross country. We also have an 'elite' group who are doing running at lunchtime with one of our lunchtime clubs. We do not expect everyone to run for the entire time, but we do expect everyone to be involved.
Please let the office know of any new enrolments for 2023 that we may not already have on our data base. This could be families / whānau who have moved into the school zone and have children turning 5 in 2023.
Nga mihi nui Vogeltown whanau,
Mr O and the VS team
Welcome to Vogeltown School
A massive welcome to Noa Peterken - brother to Mahi at Vogeltown.
We welcomed Noa in assembly today with our korowai (Korowai o manaaki).
Ka mau te wehi Noa.
VOGELTOWN WHAKAMATAU T3 2022
A big thanks to our amazing Kaiako, Jillian Sutton who has organised a 'Gymnastics whakamatu' for this term. We have a group of 20 keen kids who are going to this.
A big thanks Jodie Le Bas who took our kids at the Gymnastica gym - we really appreciate this coaching and use of the gym and equipment.
Below are some photos from the team today.
VOGELTOWN SCHOOL COMMUNITY 'SATISFACTION' SURVEY 2022
A massive thanks to all those whanau who have already provided feedback either by paper forms at the learning conference nights or online.
Here is the link - we appreciate any feedback to help us continue to provide the best learning conditions and education in New Plymouth.
We will be closing this survey on Monday at 4pm. If you have 5 minutes, we would really appreciate your feedback.
Nga mihi nui

SPARE CLOTHES
With the recent wet weather, we are finding a lot of children getting muddy during break times. We would appreciate any donations of clean, good condition trackpants, leggings and shorts in all sizes, to use for spares. It can also be a great idea to pack some spare clothes in your child's bag if they are inclined to get muddy!
COVID-19 UPDATE AT VOGELTOWN SCHOOL - WEEK 3, TERM 3
We have no cases of covid at Vogeltown this week. There is an influx of covid in South Taranaki, some of the schools down in Hawera have had to shut for a few days. We are lucky enough to be able to continue to staff our school and continue to be open.
Our average attendance for this week has been at 87.0%, we have noticed a few of our kids with flu symptoms at the beginning of this week.
Please remember we are still in a pandemic and we must continue to keep being vigilant with hand washing and keeping safe.

WHANAU POINTS - WK 3, T3 2022
Well done to Kahurangi who earned the most Whanau tokens this week!
The totals were:
Whero: 89
Karaka: 140
Kowhai: 104
Kakariki: 117
Kahurangi: 140
A total of 460 tokens handed out over the last week!
This means we still have 3 of our whanau all on 17 points! Wow!
This term we have the Cross Country for whanau points and the Whanau school song sing off (this year with actions!). Watch this space!
ENROLMENTS 2022/2023
In September the Board of Trustees will be advertising any 2023 available spaces for out of zone students wishing to enrol at Vogeltown School. If living out of zone please ensure that we have children's names and your contact details on our data base so that we can make contact when the out of zone enrolment process commences. Please note that children living in zone have automatic right of enrolment.
MR O'S FRIENDLY REMINDERS
1) Please remember to contact the school office if your child is absent or going to be late. You can report absences via Skool Loop, text 021 753 680 or ph 06 753 6843. Please do not use SeeSaw for student absences - these must come through the office.
2) Please be courteous before and after school with parking around the school sites. We have lots of kids and not enough parks, so please allow time to get to school and be patient around the streets.
Thanks whanau
Stay safe and be kind to each other. Thank you for the ongoing support of Vogeltown School, we appreciate the community we live in.
On behalf of the Vogeltown team,
Ka kite ano
