RMS Media Center Report - April '16

Check out what went on the the Media Center in April!

Media Center Stats

Student walk-in traffic - 1865

This counts students who visit the media center independently to read, study, use the makerspace, check out books, work on the computer, or complete other tasks as assigned by their teachers. For the 16 days the media center was open in March, that's over 116/day! This is reflective of testing days and lots of non-student use of the library this month, where students did not feel they should come in.

Students are welcome to visit the library before and after school, as well as throughout the day with a signed pass.

Materials Circulation - 2198 items

For the 16 days the media center was open in March, that's over 137/day! That total includes 40 checkouts from Overdrive, the district's digital library.

Classes - 44

We were packed this month with activities including meetings, book fair, and testing, but those kept classes out of the library.

All ELA classes visited the library to check out the book fair.

Activities in the Media Center

We were closed four days for SC READY testing, and the meetings and book fair altered our normal traffic.

Poetry Month - We celebrated National Poetry Month with black out poetry!

The training on Discovery Learning for Principals was held in the RMS Media Center.

Coffee with the Counselors was hosted in the Media Center.

Clay markers for the new RMS garden was the maker event for April, and since this is an ongoing program, as we starting working the clay, but have not finished the markers yet. Six students participated in the initial event, and will continue to work with the clay to make native animal-shaped markers for the different plants in our new RMS gardens.

Groovy Book Fair - The book fair was a big success, thanks to our PTSA volunteers! We put lots of great books in the hands of our students, and added tons of books to the library collection! We hosted a "Far-Out Family Fun Night" with crafts, face-painting, a photo booth, and retro snacks.
