St. Columba Catholic School - News every Friday - 8/28/20
It's been a while since we last had a Cougar Connection! For those of you that are new to the school, I send one of these out each Friday. This newsletter, along with email, will serve as the primary point of communication and updates from me.
That being said, we did it! First week of school is in the books! I am so incredibly proud of our students, teachers, and you parents! Thank you all so much for your support this week. It went so, so well!
We had a great week of getting used to our online platforms, meeting students and teachers, and setting expectations for the year.
Personally, I must say how good it felt to see our students and hear their excitement, even if it was through a screen.
It was also such a joy to see our preschoolers back at school and having fun with their friends while they learn!
Please be sure to read below for a variety of important updates!
Here is a look ahead at the upcoming events on campus:
- Monday, August 31: Start of Academic Classes
- Tuesday, September 1: Ensure Supplies have been Reordered for Reopening
- Wednesday, September 2:
- Thursday, September 3:
- Friday, September 4: All Academic Assignments for the Week Due
Reopening is Official!
It's official! On September 8th, we will officially reopen for on campus learning!
Yesterday, I found out that our Waiver application was approved and we are on the list of approved schools to reopen.
Even though we have the waiver, it looks like we won't need it. The County has officially announced that all schools can reopen in the county because we have met the 14 day criteria of staying off the watchlist! That means all of our students, including middle school, can return to campus.
Our teachers are going to be working hard next week to have wonderful online learning happening while also finalizing the setup of their classrooms.
Reopening Processes Overview
Next week, on Thursday, 9/3, Mr. Amann will host two sessions where he will go over all of our reopening processes, including drop off, dismissal, symptomatic students, and more! Please be sure to make it to one of the sessions. These processes will apply to both Preschool and K-8 families. Sessions will be at 8am and 6pm.
Zoom links will be sent to your email.
Learning Methods Decision
If you have changed your decision about what learning method (5 day on campus, 3 day on campus hybrid, or 5 day online) since you filled out the survey a while ago, please let Mr. Amann know ASAP!!!
If you have not already done so, please be sure to get your uniforms ordered so that you will have them in time for September 8th.
I have been notified that some sizes of plaid items for the girls are back ordered. If that is the case for your family, please email Mr. Amann and we will come up with an alternative plan.
Many thanks to Ms. Linda and Ms. Kathy who have worked extremely hard on getting everything set up in Schoolspeak. We will be sending out your logins on Monday so that you will be ready to log in and track your student's growth and progress throughout the year.
Yearbooks have Arrived!
If you ordered a year book last year, they are finally here! After the long delay, I am excited to get these out to everyone. Ms. Linda will be organizing them and contacting families to schedule a pickup. You can also elect to just have it handed to your child on the 8th if he/she will be here.
Save the Date: K-8 Picture Day
Our Kindergarten-8th Grade School Picture Day will be September 22nd.
If you are having your child stay online, please be sure to make some arrangements in the morning to bring your child in for pictures. After pictures, your child will go home.
