In Wonder, by R.J. Palacio , the book follows different characters as they cope with the changes in their lives and friendships. The main character, August "Auggie" Pulman has an extremely rare yet sever birth defect that affects the appearance of his face. Up until he started 5th grade at Beecher Prep, he was home schooled by his mother. When he went to saw the school for the first time, he met Jack Will. They quickly became best friends, despite the other students siding against them because of his appearance. It also includes the perspectives of Olivia, August's sister, Miranda, their old friend, and Jack. While August is dealing with issues at his school, Olivia and Miranda adapt to their new school, a private high school, separately, and a misunderstanding almost ends the friendship between August and Jack.
