One of the easiest connections between The Hunger Games and the Cultural Geography class was with the unit 4 EU, " People are part of groups that gain and lose power over time, creating differing individual rights and varying degrees of freedom." This is an almost literal wording of how the districts operate. When separated, these districts are used to collect resources for the Capitol. When the Hunger Games end, the winning district gets a large sum of resources including but not limited to food and increased resources for building and survival. The other districts have lost two members of their group however, and get nothing in return. From this, the less successful of the districts will likely have not just less resources, but less freedom to build and grow. The people living there will have tot work harder and only hope that they get lucky next year until they do.
