School Safety Drills
Today staff and students participated in our first monthly fire drill. Before, during, and after our safety drills we remind students about the importance of staying calm and listening carefully to teacher direction. We also reinforce that our drills are a great way to practice being safe. In addition to monthly fire drills, we will hold bus evacuation drills, tornado drills and lock down safety drills.
Our students did an excellent job following safety procedures and expectations during the fire drill today. Safety is our top priority. Thank you for reinforcing safety during discussions with your child at home.
Dear HPE families,
Harrison Parkway is pleased to announce the return of the Snack Attack program for those students in need. This program, supported by the Fishers Youth Assistance Program, is designed to provide students a little extra nourishment for the weekend until they can receive a hot meal at school on Monday.
Here's how the program works. Your student will pick up a small sack of food to be taken home over the weekend. The sack is filled with individually wrapped snacks such as granola bars, fruit cups, pop tarts, peanut butter/crackers, Goldfish crackers, etc. The type of snacks will vary each week. Please let us know if your child has a peanut allergy as he/she will receive a special bag of peanut-free snacks.
There is no cost to you or the school. If you are interested in having your student participate in FYAP's Snack Attack or have questions, please contact Miss Magill, School Counselor, rmagill@hse.k12.in.us or 317-915-4210.
Have a great weekend!
Miss Magill
Arrival and Dismissal
We will begin welcoming students into the building at 7:30. Thank you for understanding we do not have supervision for children prior to that time. We will begin releasing car riders for dismissal at 2:10. In order to faciliate the arrival and dismissal process, we ask that families have their child ride the bus if at all possible.
Reminders to all families choosing to have their children be car riders:
- Please do not arrive to the building too early. Long lines that develop before the arrival or dismissal process begins cause traffic delays and safety concerns on both Harrison Parkway and 141st Street.
- Cars should follow the traffic pattern in the school lot and move carefully. Do not pass parked cars in an attempt to leave the line or the lot more quickly.
- Cars should enter the school lot from the northbound lane closest to 141st Street. Please do not attempt to turn left into the lot and oncoming traffic line.
- For afternoon pick up, have a sign with the child's full name clearly displayed on the passenger side window.
- Watch carefully for buses arriving and departing from the school. Please allow buses to enter and exit the lots without blocking their path.
If you are a neighborhood family who chooses to walk and deliver or pick up your child, please use the main entrance (Door 1). Watch carefully for traffic along Harrison Parkway and be sure to use the provided crosswalks on the north and south ends of the school.
Because the process of releasing all of our students safely is so important, it is imperative we always know how each child is being dismissed. Please attempt to keep a consistent means of dismissal as frequent changes are confusing to everyone - especially the student. Late changes that are unavoidable must be communicated to teachers and staff by 1:00pm. The earlier you can share that information with us the better. If you are changing dismissal the same day, be sure you have direct confirmation that staff have received the change request.
Thank you for helping to make arrival and dismissal safe and efficient for everyone!

Covid Information
Please remember to send your student to school healthy. If a student is ill and has any of the symptoms of Covid listed below, we encourage you to get your student tested using a PCR test, which is available via Fishers Health Department (COVID Testing | Fishers, IN - Official Website) or the Indiana Department of Health (ISDH - Novel Coronavirus: COVID-19 Testing Information). PCR tests are the most accurate and provide less risk of a false positive or negative result. A visit to your physician is also suggested if you feel this is not Covid-related, then a doctor's note would be needed for your student to return to school. Please do not send your child to school ill or while waiting for Covid test results.
Symptoms to monitor for:
Fever or chills
Cough
Shortness of Breath or difficulty breathing
Fatigue
Muscle or body aches
Headache
New loss of taste or smell

Response-to-Instruction (RtI)
Response to Instruction (RtI) is a general education initiative designed to provide high quality instruction and interventions matched to student needs and using learning rate over time and level of performance to make important educational decisions. The RtI model is based on a three-tiered model of service delivery with a focus on early intervention and prevention of academic and behavioral concerns. Data collected during this process provides valuable information regarding students’ educational progress and response to interventions. Students who do not demonstrate a response to well-implemented, scientifically-based interventions at the Tier 3 level would be referred for an educational evaluation to determine eligibility for special education. RtI is a component of HSE’s Child Find Process.
