Language Arts
We have been reviewing the basics this week! The kids have working hard on their pencil grip this week; I gave each student a fun pencil gripper to help initiate good habits right from the start of the year. I have also been assessing their letter and number identification knowledge as well as colors, shapes, etc. If you've been watching our 'Story' on Class Dojo, you know that the Kinders have also been rockstars at doing Read to Self as part of our Daily 5 Language Arts frame work! We are excited to add the Work on Writing component hopefully next week. We have also done some tracing and cutting review/practice this week.
Math
We put our tracing and writing skills to the test again in math as we worked on writing numbers 0-5. The students enjoyed writing the numbers in the air with Dr. Jean's "Numeral Song" and using their new dry erase markers to write them on white boards. They identified the number and amount of each number as well with various manipulatives.
Social Studies
This week, we read stories about and discussed being a caring classmate, a trustworthy friend, and being responsible. When asked what it meant to be caring, some of the ideas offered during our discussion were "Be the best kid you can be!" and "Be nice to everyone."
