Course Description
This course will focus on skill development in spreadsheets, database, and integration of applications utilizing advanced features. Students will have the opportunity to sit for the Microsoft Office Certification test in Excel 2016 and Access 2016. Skills, standards, and coursework align with industry certifications.

Grading Criteria
Most assignments will be completed in class. Class assignments may include, but not limited to:
· Group and Individual Projects
· Lesson Quizzes
· TedTalks
· Certification Tests
Homework is assigned regularly, but you may need to stay after school to work on a project before it is due. School computer labs and ICU rooms are made available before and after school to work on projects.

Advise from Students
Advise from Students
- Take your time on the lessons instead of just trying to go through them.
- Take your time and pay attention!
- Don't get behind, because when it comes time for the tests, you've rushed to catch up with the assignments and didn't learn as much.
- Try your best
- Keep up with knowledge and Ted talks, don't get behind
- study way more
- Don't fall behind on the lessons, because then they pile up

Classroom Behavior/Course Expectations
- Always abide by the Golden Rule. Show respectful behavior towards classmates and the teacher.
- Inspire other with the gifts you have.
- Be quiet and courteous when the teacher or another student is speaking to the class.
- Be prepared to begin class when the bell rings, put away work materials when class ends. Stay in your seat until the bell rings. Push in your chair when the bell rings.
- Strive for excellence, don’t be average.
- Bring all Materials to class the first time. Damage done to school materials will be replaced at your costs.
- Be honest on assignments and projects. Representing another student’s work as your own may be tempting if you are behind. Neither student will receive credit for copied assignments.
- Follow all network acceptable use policies. Notify the instructor of computer problems.
- No games without teacher permission. Permission will only be given when a student has a passing grade, no missing assignments, and time is given for to be completed.
- Headphones can only be used with teacher permission.
- Respect all students’ right to learn. Behaviors that disrupt the learning process are not tolerated. Unacceptable behaviors are listed and described in detail in the student handbook.
Consequences
Violation of classroom and school policies will result in disciplinary action by the teacher. Minor discipline problems will result in verbal warning, reprimand, and/or change in seating assignment. Severe or repeated violations are handled in one or more of the following ways as the situation warrants:
1. Conference with student after class
2. Notification of student’s parent
3. Disciplinary referral to administrator
Makeup and Late Work Policy
Makeup Work
- “Makeup work” refers to work missed during an absence.
- Students who know they will be absent should make prior arrangements with the teacher.
- Arranging for makeup work is the student’s responsibility, not the teacher’s.
Late Work
- “Late work” refers to assignments not completed by announced due dates.
- Students are expected to complete assigned projects by announced due dates. Students may have to make arrangements to come in before or after school.
- Any late assignment will be entered into the ICU Database.
