Dear Parker Middle School Families,
I hope your children enjoyed the first full week of five days of learning! I’m noticing students are beginning to settle into their routines and schedules and I’m looking forward to the after school activities and clubs that start up next week.
Coming Up! On Thursday, Sept. 22, we welcome Parker Families to school for Back to School Night. You will follow a modified version of your child(ren)’s schedule, allowing you the opportunity to get a feel for what it’s like to be a Parker Middle School student. We will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium with a brief introduction and presentation from school administration. You will receive a schedule for your evening in your child’s homeroom, so please make sure you ask your child who they have for homeroom so you will know where to go. If you forget, administration will be on hand to guide you and show you the way.
A reminder, Back to School Night is not an opportunity to ask individual questions about your child’s specific learning needs. If you have individual questions about your child, please connect with the team leader to arrange for a team conference.
Also, this Thursday is an early release day. Students are dismissed at 12:30 p.m.
Nature's Classroom Information Session will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. via Zoom. Mr. Peledge will email families a Zoom link on Tuesday morning.
This Month! National Hispanic Heritage month began this week on Thursday, Sept. 15 and lasts until Saturday, Oct. 15. During this month, we pay tribute to the generations of Hispanic Americans who have positively influenced and enriched the nation and society. We honor the histories and contributions of Americans with roots in Spain, Mexico, Central and South America and the Caribbean. The month begins on Sept. 15 to coincide with the independence day for Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Be on the lookout for ways Parker Middle School students will learn about and commemorate this month.
Reminders! If you are interested in serving on the School Council, please fill out this form (even if you have already emailed me your interest - I don’t want to miss anyone!). The School Council will meet on the third Tuesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. Our first meeting will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 18. This year we will work on finalizing the Parker Middle School vision and mission statement.
Student Activities: (This will be emailed to students too.)
Ms. Rubino wants to hear from you. Come join the Principal’s Student Council. Please join me after school on Wednesday, Sept. 28 in the cafeteria. All are welcome and no signups are needed. We will rotate the day of this monthly meeting in case you have conflicts on Wednesday afternoons and we will talk about whether we should meet twice per month.

Kindness Kits
The Pine Street Inn in Boston’s South End neighborhood serves more than 1,900 individuals daily and assists homeless individuals in areas including street outreach, prepared meals, housing, medical care, and job training. Once again, we at Parker are gathering items for the residents at the Pine Street Inn by creating “Kindness Kits” that include donations from all of you to individuals in need. On the morning of October 6, our eighth graders will pack the goods with the donations that have been collected during our drive here at school.
We can’t thank you enough for your donations and support. We will continue to collect until October 5.
Please make sure items are travel sized or small. Items Include:
