SWIMARATHON
At the Swimarathon organised by the Lions club last weekend Claires Court did themselves proud. In total the school entered six teams and in the Sixth Form we are very proud of the five "Mermaids" and six "Men from Atlantis" who represented us and swam (relay style) for 55 minutes. There was friendly rivalry between our two teams with the girls ultimately completing 65 laps (just over two miles) and the boys who clocked up a record for Claires Court of 73 laps. The total amount raised in sponsorship for charity is not yet known but Shannon alone has raised over £200 and Will completed three pages of sponsors names. Well done and thank you to our swimmers for entering into the spirit of the event and participating in such a worthwhile community event. And a lucky bonus is that at the event itself Teresa May picked three team names out of a hat of which Claires Court was one so in addition to the sponsor money the pupils raise Claires Court will be given an additional £200 to donate to our '3 for 3' charities.

TALK ON CAREERS IN THE MEDIA
GIRL POWER
Suzanne Thompson, Vice President and Head of School Partnerships, Discovery Education spoke of her career path in education, leadership, the Education Technology industry, crossing from the governmental sector to the corporate environment, and of the various aspects of being a woman in high level offices. At the same time she also spoke about being feminine and getting her nails done, enjoying lovely jewellery, and getting mud covered on the football pitch as a left wing back. Being feminine and high powered is not mutually exclusive, and girls should aim to enjoy both!
EMERGENCY CLOSURE

A reminder that initial contact will be via text message and supporting email from the School. Please ensure you keep your contact details up-to-date at this time.
SPORT
U18 A Netball v Bearwood. Lost 38 - 23 after a hard match in which fitness in the last quarter became a key issue. Player of the Match was Victoria Saunders, Coach's attack player was Rebecca Yeabsley and Coach's defense player was Moyin Forsythe.
U18 B Netball v Pangbourne. Lost 29 - 6. Pangbourne had a very strong team and again the fitness of our girls became an issue. However extra training has now been organised for a Monday lunchtime to address this.
U18 1st XI Football v Bearwood. Won 10 - 0. Goals: Jordan Sullivan X 4, Will Harwood X 3, Charlie Monk X 2 and Will Elkins.
