Prayer - For Sports Day

Dear God,

Tomorrow is sports day and we place ourselves in your loving hands.

Help us to show good sportsmanship.

Help each and every one of us to participate for the best of our factions.

We pray that all who take part are protected from physical harm.

Lead us to accept that not every decision will go my way.

Mostly Lord, help us to have FUN!

Dear Parents & Caregivers,

As we now head into the final weeks of Term 3, we had the opportunity to pause and reflect this week as part of our Well Being Week! Each day this week, a variety of opportunities were provided for our children, staff and families to look after their own personal health by engaging in the 5 Ways to Well Being. This included student yoga by Yogazoo, mindfulness activities, wacky Wednesday for a donation, and culminating in the faction sports carnival. Each of these focused on different aspects of wellness and whilst this has been a week long activity, it reminds us of the importance of slowing down, celebrating our uniqueness and being grateful for who we are. Consistent with St Francis' message, "All the darkness in the world cannot extinguish the light of a single candle.' Through promoting and fostering the well being of each of us, we burn our light even brighter through the image of God.

A huge thank you to Mrs Liz Ward (1W) and her team for coordinating this week's events. It was great to see the smiles, laughter and enjoyment for all our children. Whilst parents may have struggled with the extra washing of sports uniform all week, hopefully this was balanced with more quality time with your children without the pressure of homework!

Athletics Carnival Friday 11th

Tomorrow, we have our very first St Francis of Assisi Athletics Carnival! Thank you to Miss Croxall for all her hard work in preparing for the day. Whilst athletics is not for everyone, I encourage all children to attend as it is another way for us to build resilience and character in our children as they compete in a safe and supportive environment in a range of individual and team activities for their faction. The weather looks great and we can't wait to finish the week on a positive note. A reminder to parents:

  • Please make use of the hand sanitiser available.
  • DO NOT enter the faction tents. Children will be able to sit with their parents at lunch time.
  • Please maintain a safe physical distance of 1.5m from other families.
  • A reminder that the vehicle gates and administration office will be closed all day. The pedestrian gate will need to be used to access the school.
  • Parents wishing to participate in any parent races are reminded to stretch hamstrings and groins to avoid any embarrassing injuries or excuses!

First Holy Communion - Sunday 13th Sept

This Sunday we wish all our First Holy Communion candidates well as they receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist for the very first time at St Andrew's Parish. Whilst this year has been unusual, we are pleased to be able to celebrate the Sacrament with Father Dariusz and Father Marian. Please see Miss Campbell's notices below in regards to details regarding times and photography.

Year 6 Camp - Monday 14th Sept

This Monday, our Year 6's will head to Kerem Adventure Camp for a much anticipated 4-day camp. We believe this is a valuable experience for the Year 6's to allow them to build resiliency and challenge themselves outside their comfort zone. After the false start of COVID, we are excited we get to enjoy a camp in 2020! Mrs Freeman, Mr Kinder, Miss Croxall, Mrs Baker, Mrs Bowden, Miss Vinciguerra and myself, will accompany the children on camp and we are looking forward to the various activities on offer. Parents, please see the details posted by the classroom teachers in regards to times. Thank you to all those teachers for giving up their time away from their own families to provide this opportunity for our children.

Term 3/4 Significant Dates

A reminder that there have been a number of changes to the Term 3/4 Significant Dates. These can be found in the document below, as well as on the school website. One of these changes includes the commencement to Term 4. Students will now return on Monday 12th October.

Last Day of Term 3 Thursday 24th Sep

Dance Concert

A reminder that the last day of Term 3 is Thursday 24th September. On this day, we will finish the term with our Year 1, 3, 5 performing a Dance concert from routines they have been learning with Make A Move Dance Program. Due to COVID restrictions, this will be in lieu of a Grandparents Day. Unfortunately, there will be no opportunity for a morning tea or entering classrooms as part of a learning journey. To adhere to Phase 4 Restrictions, please take note of the following details:

  • 8:45am - Parents of children in 1B, 3B, 5B to attend
  • 9:15am - Parents of children in 1W, 3W, 5W to attend
  • 2 Adults per family may attend

We realise this is not ideal for some families but ask for your understanding and patience in maintaining the physical distancing requirements for our hall. Please refer to the note sent home regarding all other details.

SFoA Community Lunch

To enable our school to still have the community lunch on the last day of term, we will need to ensure all lunches are had outside, and spread throughout the school, including the basketball courts, grassed areas outside the library and also the grassed areas outside Year 5/6. Parents please be aware that should the weather be unfavourable, we may need to cancel parents attending at the last minute.

Complaints and Dispute Resolution Policy

Parents are reminded that if they have a complaint or issue they would like dealt with, they can follow the procedure outlined in our policy on the school website. This includes speaking with the classroom teacher in the first instance, then myself or leadership if the matter is not resolved. Parents are also advised that any complaint that you believe is not resolved, can be pursued through Catholic Education Western Australia. Our policy can be found here:

Finally, thanks to the School Board and P&F, we have had our electronic LCD sign installed! This initiative has been supported to provide a stronger presence on Connolly Drive for existing and future families. Keep an eye out for the latest notices to appear on screen and possibly the odd photo of our children up in lights! As much as I'd enjoy having a larger than life photo of myself displayed, there are limits to my vanity!

Have a wonderful fortnight ahead.

Best wishes

Jason Baker

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

SUNDAY 13 SEPTEMBER @ 10:30AM in St Andrew's Church, Clarkson

Parents, please be at the church no later than 10:15am.

Please pray for our Year 4 children as they continue on their journey to First Holy Communion this weekend. It is a very special and exciting time in the lives of the candidates as they prepare to receive Jesus for the very first time.

Thank you to Mrs Anderson and Mrs Rossi for preparing our children so beautifully to receive the Sacrament of Eucharist on Sunday. If you are visiting the school, please take a look at the art the children have completed in the office.

The official photographer for this year is MSP (who do our school photos). MSP are available to take family and candidate photos on the day. They will also ensure photos of the children receiving Communion are taken during the Mass. A SEESAW post last week provided details of how and when to order photos. Families will be reminded, once the photos are available.

Parents are reminded that NO photography or videography is permitted inside the church during the Mass, due to strict privacy restrictions.

We are delighted to be able to offer the Sacrament of Confirmation to our Yr 6 students in Term 4. Due to an interrupted year, there is only one date and time offered for Confirmation this year. If this date and time does NOT suit your family, alternative arrangements can be made in 2021 through IMCC or the parish. A note will go home this week providing all the details of commitments for the children leading up to receiving the sacrament.

Sacrament of Confirmation: THURSDAY 12th NOVEMBER 6pm.

"Find new ways to spread the word of God to every corner of the world." Pope Francis

SFoA Sports Carnival

Please click on the Athletics Carnival Program below for the list of events for tomorrow’s carnival. All spectators please ensure you maintain the appropriate physical distancing and adhere to all the covid safe guidelines. Remember no spectators are allowed in the faction tents or to cross the track. Spectators are to use the IMCC staff toilets located in the gym. No pets are allowed at the carnival.

Our SFoA sports carnival is one of the most rewarding days on the school calendar. It is a chance to support our children in facing their nerves, sometimes fears, and congratulate them on trying their absolute hearts out, regardless of the result. I look forward to enjoying the sunshine, watching the smiles and being a part of a great community day.

Before and After School Sports

For most sports, this week is the last session, please check with the coaches and associations at it may vary.

Term 4 activities and information will be sent home in Week 10.
