“Our hearts were made for You, O Lord, and they are restless until they rest in You.”
St. Augustine of Hippo
From Mr. Merrick
Dear St. Jerome Families,
We are so proud of all of our school community today for completing our 16th Annual Race for Education! We did have to leave earlier than anticipated this morning because of the constantly changing weather patterns (we did send out an OptionC, but I do apologize to anyone who was not able to join us along the route, because of the last minute time change; however, it was necessary and allowed us to make the full trek through the neighborhood). We look forward to next year's and hope you can join us next April for our next Race for Education. We appreciate our Student Council's providing us with afternoon entertainment with another rendition of Family Feud. A very special thank you to Mrs. Carolan who oversaw the race preparations and made this change of format such a great success.
Thank you to everyone who donated to the cause as well as snacks and raffle prizes. We will be announcing the winners of the raffles tomorrow and sending the prizes home. Also, we are on our way to meeting our Race for Education fundraising goal with $15,600 raised so far; donations are still being accepted here. We appreciate Haley's Quinn's donation of $425.00 from last week's Winchester Wednesday. In addition, we will continue to sell our snacks over the next few days until they are gone and then add that total to our Race of Education fund.
Our faculty was on retreat yesterday and had a quiet day of prayer and reflection. Fr. Reilly celebrated Mass and presided over a Holy Hour. We also had a presentation on art and spirituality by Fr. Dalin of St. Martha Parish.
Tomorrow, we honor our Blessed Mother with our annual May Procession. 2nd, 3rd, 7th, and 8th grade in-person students will participate in the church; we will live-stream the May Procession to the rest of the classrooms, our virtual students, and all of our families and guests.
Terra Nova scores have started arriving. Once they are all here, sorted, and put into envelopes, we will send them home in the Wednesday Folder on Wednesday, May 19th. In addition, our Catapult Instructional Coach, Nancy Hambrose and I are working together to analyze our scores. Our teachers and I will use the data to plan our instruction for next year and help each one of our students to do their very best; we will also use the results to help us in planning and purchasing curriculum materials.
Our dear seminarian, Marlon Vass is being ordained a deacon on Saturday, May 8th. The following day, Sunday, May 9th, he will be preaching his first homily at the 11:00 AM Mass here at St. Jerome Church.
Thank you for your support of Catholic education here in our parish. Have a great rest of the week; St. Jerome, pray for us!
