Intensive summer course exploring how people communicate about food & through food
Explore how:
- social groups form around food and eating
- food is a site of struggle, power, and conflict
- social media shapes how we interact with food
- family experience shapes our very taste for foods
- "knowledge" about nutrition is tentative and in flux
- the family meal is perceived as a panacea for social ills
- farmer's markets reconfigure our relationships with food
- gender, ethnic, and personal identities are crafted through food
