IMPORTANT UPDATES and ANNOUNCEMENTS 3/12/2020
IMPORTANT UPDATE ON COVID-19
Dear Proctor School Community,
Yesterday you received a communication from Superintendent Ahmadi regarding COVID 19. This letter is intended to add to that information. Castro Valley Unified School District administrators have been conferencing regularly regarding the Coronavirus (COVID19) and are using the recommendations from the ACPHD COVID19 guidelines dated 3/10/2020.
The school district, under the guidance of the County Health Department, has called for all field trips and large gatherings (Open House/Art Show/Book Fair) planned before Spring Break to be postponed or cancelled. Additionally, as a precaution, we will not be having any school-wide flag/award assemblies until after Spring Break at the earliest. Teachers will still celebrate students showing their Proctor Pride by handing out Character Awards for the month of March in their classrooms. Also, the April 7th PTA meeting has also been cancelled.
All after school programs will continue as scheduled. Those running the programs have been advised to cancel if the teacher/coach is sick. School is still in session and, as Ms. Ahmadi stated, “General closure of schools has not been advised.” Please visit CVUSD’s website for the most up-to-date information: https://www.cv.k12.ca.us/apps/pages/coronavirus
Proctor and all other school sites are being disinfected every evening with two different products in order to decrease the spread of germs. These products are approved and safe for student exposure. Students are being encouraged to wash their hands often. We have ensured that there is soap in every classroom that has a sink and hand sanitizer in every classroom that does not. Additionally, portable wash stations have been set up at the cafeteria and for classrooms that have no running water. There are always soap and paper towels in the bathrooms and students are being encouraged to thoroughly wash their hands in the restrooms as well. Please keep your child home if he/she is sick or presents any COVID-19 symptoms and call the office to let the attendance clerk know why your child is staying home.
Please know how disappointed I am in having to make these decisions. I know how much energy, passion and planning goes into each field trip and event, but our number one priority is keeping our children safe and healthy. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding during this time.

Please Support our Online Virtual Book Fair!!
Due to the new precautions being taken to keep students healthy and safe, we will be hosting a "Virtual Online" Scholastic Book Fair this Spring!!
Please use the following link to purchase books from this fair:https://www.scholastic.com/bf/proctorelementaryschool
ONLY THIS LINK CAN BE USED TO PURCHASE BOOKS FROM OUR ONLINE BOOK FAIR!
Teachers will have the opportunity to look through the scholastic book carts that were already delivered in the Art Center to shop using "Scholastic Dollars. " This will give them a chance to purchase books for their classroom, and to create "wish-lists" for their classroom libraries. Please keep an eye out for these "wish-lists" your child's teacher creates to support the building of their classroom library!
Thank you to the PTA, the Book Fair Chairs (Josie Ramos and Genoveva Llosa) and the many volunteers who have put lots of time and energy into planning the Spring Book Fair, and making sure that we can still run a modified book fair during this crazy time! Your efforts are greatly appreciated!!
