Math and Science Course Options
As with any new position, there is a process and this process takes time. I have begun to onboard our newest teachers with the essential information to ensure their success at Odyssey. We appreciate your patience as you wait to hear from them regarding the PBL Courses. As soon as we have more information, we will be sure to communicate that with you as soon as possible.
Just a reminder, students in grades 7-12 have three options for math and science courses:
A) PBL Course in Math or Science (taught by an Odyssey teacher)
(meets twice a week for live , virtual instruction, other days student is working independently)
B) Hybrid Course in Math or Science (with parent chosen curriculum)
(chosen curriculum, with math/science teacher oversight)
C) Online Courses- taught by local Odyssey or statewide teachers
Tech HELP DESK & Technology Support Information
Technology Support- On the Odyssey website, there is a Technology Support Page that provides useful information for different programs, FAQ's, support and help centers.
Steps to access Technology Support on Website:
1. Login to the Odyssey website (you MUST be logged in with your username & password first)
2. Go to Current Families Tab
3. Go to Technology Support Tab
It includes:
- How to Use Google Docs
- How to Share Files from Google Drive
- Google Help
- Zoom Help Center
- HP ProBook Support (Student Laptops)
- iPad Support
- Odyssey Technology Handbook
- Wisconsin eSchool Network
Student Devices- Laptops & iPads
iPads- These devices were purposefully designed to give you 'administrator' rights. We felt that this would give you the most freedom to create your own Apple ID account in order to add any apps that you feel would be beneficial for your child(ren). There are wonderful educational apps that are available in all subject areas to supplement your child's learning. If you are looking for app suggestions, please ask your child's teacher.
Enjoy the technology!
Student Email
If you can't locate it, please contact your child's teacher or Brooke Knoll.
ONLINE Courses- WEN
Step #1- Students must complete the Student Orientation course first. The programs that are used for these courses, Genius and BUZZ have tutorials within this course. In order for a student to successfully navigate the course, they need to have this fundamental knowledge of how these systems work. A student's success is dependent upon these skills.
Step #2- Begin your online courses. These courses are self-paced and can be worked on at any time. Either an Odyssey teacher or statewide teacher will be the instructor for the course. Please note that for each online course, your son or daughter is assigned an advisory teacher. This is the same teacher that you met with for the ILP meeting. In the advisory role, these teachers monitor each student's progress and learning, communicate with students and parents or the teacher of the course if needed. Please encourage your child to reach out to both their online class teacher and their Odyssey advisor if they have ANY questions at all. We are here to help your child be successful in all of their courses. A teacher and advisor's contact information can be found within each course.
We do have Odyssey staff teaching online WEN courses in math, english/language arts, science, social studies and health.
Additional Curriculum Orders/Supplies, Lesson Provider Requests & Memberships
We are asking that if you do have additional curriculum or supplies to be ordered, that you wait until October 1st to submit those requests and use form found below.
Lesson provider requests and membership requests will be processed as soon as possible. This is a timely process, which includes: obtaining the provider's W9 form, getting completed forms from the provider and receiving the invoices. They will be processed as quickly as possible. I understand that many have either begun classes or will begin soon; thank you for your patience as we work to complete these. Just a reminder, it is the family's responsibility to communicate with the provider to ensure that they are willing to partner with Odyssey and have a W9 form.
iReady Assessment
This assessment will provide teachers and parents precise data regarding your child's reading and math skills. Teachers will use this data to drive their instruction. For parents, this provides an invaluable resource to aid in your child's learning and growth.
