OCTOBER UPDATES
This school year is off to a fantastic start! Classroom communities are blossoming, positive relationships are being built, and there is great learning happening in classrooms every day!
We had a fabulous turn out at Back-To-School-Night. We hope you enjoyed your evening and visiting with the RH teachers. Thank you for taking an active role in your child's education - we truly value the partnership between school and home. We enjoyed talking with so many parents and look forward to seeing you at some of the upcoming school events.
This past week, we celebrated the Week of Respect. Mrs. Fontanez spoke with each class about respect and helped them to create respect superhero capes. They proudly wore these capes in our superhero parade to our character education assembly. The assembly, "Eye to Eye" by Camfel Productions, emphasized having tolerance and respect for differences.
As we teach kindness and empathy, we hope to raise children that will make our world a better place!
We wish you a beautiful fall season and an October filled with wonderful memories!

SCHOOL-WIDE EXPECTATIONS
BE SAFE, BE RESPECTFUL, BE RESPONSIBLE, BE KIND
Ask your child how they can show these expected behaviors throughout the school day.
Of course, we strive for our students to BE AMAZING by going above and beyond what's expected. Students who are caught being amazing will receive a paw charm and chain that they can put on their backpack. If you see your child come home with a paw, please celebrate the positive choices that they are making!
HALLOWEEN
Costumes may not be worn to school and should be brought in a bag or backpack. Accessories that reflect any type of weapon should NOT be brought to school.
If you choose to pick up your child after the parade, you must send in a note. After the parade, please walk outside to the front entrance, where you will sign out your child. Please note - If you sign out your child before the end of the school day, the day will be marked as an "early out."
INKTOBER
Mrs. Cofrield is kicking off Inktober. Read to learn more about it!
What is "Inktober?"
It’s a fun and stimulating drawing challenge invented by comic book author and illustrator, Jake Parker, as a way to commit to the practice of drawing and improving his skills, because, as we all know, practice makes progress.
How does it work?
- Each day of the month, you are challenged to create an ink drawing (think Sharpie or black marker) based on a word prompt
- This challenge is open to our entire school community, including parents and staff!
- Drawings should be no larger than 5 ½” x 8 1/2”. They can be smaller. The point is to keep them small so you are able to finish one a day.
- Return your drawing to Ms. Corfield each day with your name, class and word of the day written on it.
- All pieces will be posted on the special “Inktober” bulletin board and in a special ‘Inktober’ gallery on Artsonia.
* Word prompts are posted on Mrs. Corfield's website
