Reading
Reading is great for self-improvement! Through reading, you begin understand the world more. By reading, you have a greater understanding on a topic that interest you; for example: how to build self confidence, how to improve a plan before taking action, how to memorize. All of these self improvements start from the reading; through reading, you create a structured pathway towards a better understanding and better actions to take in the future.
As Vera Nazarian said, "Whenever you read a good book, somewhere in the world a door opens to allow in more light."
Math
Students have been learning about fractional parts of shapes. They discovered there is more than one way to divide some shapes in half. After several times of practicing the +9 facts with their clock partners, students had another fact assessment. As we learn new facts, the "old" facts are still reviewed and continue to be on assessments. Timed assessments are done to insure that students have committed these facts to memory and can answer quickly.

Social Studies and Science
Grade 2 students learned about how Native Americans lived long ago; adjusting to the climate in their area. Students compare that way of life to how things have changed for them in today's society. They also learned about consumers and producers and harvest time. In science, focus remains on animals and how they protect themselves using adaptations; such as camouflage.
