Rounding Numbers
When you are rounding if the number you are rounding is followed by 5,6,7,8,9, round that number up. Ex:69 rounded to the nearest ten is70.
If the number you are rounding is followed by 0,1,2,3,or 4 round that number down. Ex:44 rounded to the nearest ten is 40.
Place Value
The numerical value that a digit has by virtue of its position in a number. A place value system is one in which the position of a digit in a number determines its value. In the standard system, called base ten, each place represents ten times the value of the place to the right. Ex: 753 =700+50+3
Comparing Numbers
It is great to know if one number is the same as, greater than, or smaller than another number. We use the > sign to show that one number is greater than another number.
Another sign that we use is the < sign we use this symbol to show when one number is less than another number. The last symbol that we use is the = sign this shows that one number is equal with another number.
