5 Great Things This Week At SESS
November 5th-9th, 2018
Students Lead SESS Remembrance Day Ceremony
Friday morning at 11 am students and staff attended our school Remembrance Day ceremony. We were honoured by the presence of local veterans and members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 192. In a meaningful and reflective ceremony led by students, the SESS community paid tribute to the courage and sacrifice demonstrated by the members of the Canadian Armed Forces. We are deeply grateful and will never forget all that they have done for us.
Paint the Lockers Project!
Mr. Carelse and his art classes continue to brighten our hallways with their amazing re-design of the locker banks in the secondary wing. The artwork is a collaborative project between a number of students from different grades, and the images they are creating are having a positive impact on the culture of our whole school. We can't wait to see the finished project!
SESS Swim Team Prepared to Defend Provincial Title!
Congratulations to our SESS swim team! All 13 members have qualified for the Provincial Championships next week in Richmond. Our whole school will be cheering for them as the team defends their 2017-18 Provincial Title! Thank you as well for the time and dedication given by coach Kelly Vesper. GO SPARKS!!
Grade 6 Students Explore Coding at the Regional Library
On Thursday, our awesome Teacher-Librarian Mrs. Brunton brought all of our grade 6 students to the local branch of the Okanagan Regional Library to participate in the “Tech Stations” presentation by Code Mobile. The workshop focused on teaching computational thinking and technical skills in a fun and collaborative way. Students were able to try out programming with various types of technology including Dash the Robot who helped them learn to creatively code and problem solve. Thanks as well to Mrs. Espenhain for driving the students!
2nd Annual PAC Carnival is a Success!
Thank you to the dedicated members of our PAC committee who organized the 2nd Annual PAC Carnival fundraiser on Thursday night. The evening festivities were well attended and a good time was enjoyed by kids and adults. Highlights of the evening were the always popular cake walk as well as the spectacle of staff members (thank you Mr. Johnson and Mr. Eccleston) enduring repeatedly well thrown pies to the face.
