Synnovation Lab News Blast
Version 1.1 April 2018
Getting Ready For Summer
- Summer Reading: Creative Confidence by the Kelley Brother's is the summer reading required for all students in the Synnovation Lab. We will communicate further expectations for students as we get closer to summer. We also encourage parents to read Creative Confidence to learn more about the culture of the Synnovation Lab.
- Ribbon Cutting Ceremony: As we discussed in our last newsletter and at the meeting, the Little Theater will be transformed into the Synnovation Lab. As soon as the renovations are complete we will be hosting a Launch Party in the Synnovation Lab. This will be a chance to see the space, meet each other, and our community of learners.
- We will continue to send newsletters... keep an eye out!
RocketBook
We are excited to announce Synnovation Lab students will be using Rocketbooks next year to reflect in analog, but organize and store digitally.
The value of writing is an art that we do not want to lose in the technological age, and the Rocketbook will allow our students to enhance their collaborative nature through multiple formats. Beyond reflections, students will also use Rocketbooks to easily take and share notes, designs, sketches, and document collaboration.
All students in the Synnovation Lab will be required to have a Rocketbook, which can be purchased through the Aves Hangar at the High School. We will send more information as it becomes available.
Teacher Spotlight
Meet Emily Conatser, Special Education
Hello! My name is Emily Conatser. I am the Special Education Teacher for our Synnovation Lab. I have been teaching for 17 years and all of those years have been here at SHS. I met my husband while working at Sycamore. We have been married for 14 years. We have 2 children: Madison (almost 13) and Brock (11). I have a fur baby- Whiskey and he is a 4 year old Chocolate Lab. In my spare time, when I am not a M-Uber (mom uber), I enjoy playing volleyball, reading, being with my family, watching my children in their activities, singing, scrapbooking, and being outdoors.
I am SO excited to be a part of this phenomenal opportunity for your child. What excites me the most is to see the students think outside of the box, be comfortable with the idea of failing while working their way to success, learn to be independent learners while being challenged at their own level of learning, and seeing their ideas come to life!!!!!
I can not wait to begin the 2018-19 school year!!!!
