Save the Date! Mean Girls
The Flora Fine Arts Department presents Mean Girls: High School Version from January 16 - January 19 at 6 p.m. in the Flora Theater. Based on the film by Tina Fey, our musical follows Cady Heron, the daughter of 2 biologists that was raised in Kenya. When her parents' research funding runs out, the family moves back to America, where she is instantly transported into the world of teenage cliques and politics at North Shore High School. When her new friends Janis and Damian ask her to infiltrate the titular mean girls known as "The Plastics" (Regina, Karen, and Gretchen), her life is shaken up as she tries to balance her need to belong and be popular versus remaining true to herself. Will she maintain her integrity by following her Calculus Teacher, Ms. Norbury's advice to put her academic giftedness to good use; or conform to a perceived notion that popular girls should be pretty and unintelligent to try to impress her crush, Aaron? Will she remain loyal to her real friends or betray them to ascend the rungs of the popularity ladder? Come see this "cautionary tale" of high school life to find out the outcome!

Free College Entrance Assessments for 3rd and 4th year students
The ACT and SAT will be offered during the school day at AC Flora in March 2024. All 3rd and 4th year students have the opportunity to take either the ACT® or the SAT® at no cost, paid for by the state. The ACT and the SAT are college entrance exams used by some colleges and universities in admitting students. Scores may also be used for eligibility for state-funded scholarships such as the Life Scholarship and the Palmetto Fellows Scholarship. Taking either test is optional. These tests will be administered during the school day. The ACT will be administered at AC Flora on March 12, 2024, and the SAT will be administered on March 13, 2024.
To sign a student up to take either the ACT or the SAT at no charge, parents/guardians must complete this form and indicate the test desired. Parents/guardians who do not want your student to take either exam, please select that option. The deadline to submit a request for college entrance assessment is Monday, December 18, 2023. If this form is not submitted by the deadline, your student will not take either test.
