Advent is almost here~
We had quite a scare this past Sunday night when our neighbor's garage lit up in flames and we had to evacuate our home. Everyone was fine but the garage and the two cars in it were totaled. Because of this, I thought to check on my 10 year old after school the next day. He managed the day with the little sleep he had but was upset from something that happened to him among his classmates. I called some moms and we cleared things up. Though he was a little embarrassed that I stepped in, I could tell he felt heard and validated. I was thankful I was there to offer support.
St. Teresa of Calcutta said, "If you want to bring happiness to the whole world, go home and love your family." Kids don't have apartments or drive for a reason. They need their parents. Let us make it a priority to spend time with our children. Read a book together. Bake cookies. Sit next to each other at mass. (Check out the moment Miss Hawthorne caught of Mrs. Carey and her daughter at this week's school mass.) Your presence is so important and they grow up fast.
The whole WCS staff wishes you many blessings this Thanksgiving and a lovely start to the Advent season. Be sure to watch the 2 minute video above.
