Tech Traps

The world we’ve created has many technological marvels which add to our quality of life. With that said, it is also important to be careful and guard against pitfalls which technology can present.

Because of certain technology, we live with the illusion of immediacy. Devices have trained us to touch your phone or tablet and ‘something’ happens. When we transfer that to people it is dangerous because when people do not immediately meet our needs we tune them out. Additionally, as we engage via email, chat, post, etc. we must be aware that a culture of rapid responding prizes shallow reactions over deep reflection. We shouldn't mistake promptness for politeness. If a message isn't urgent, it's not rude to take a day or two to reply. It's better to be slow and thoughtful than fast and careless.

Make it a great day, or not. The choice is yours...so maybe make it just a bit slower!

P.E. Update

As we get closer to wrapping up this school year, we are finishing strong (literally) in PE. On nice Spring days, you will find the PrK, K, and 1st graders taking some of their PE time to participate in the mileage club on the Bauer track. Each mile they put in, earns them a foot token that they will be bringing home to show off at the very end of the school year.

Our 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders are wrapping up their post-fitness testing for the year. Our fitness tests will show how much they have grown in areas of strength, speed, and endurance. They too will be bringing home evidence of this at the very end of the year.

Lastly, if you have a 4th or 5th grade student stay tuned for more information coming your way about 4th and 5th grade Field Day @ Eagle Stadium on Monday, June 5th. It is a blast!

May Meeting

Please join us for the final Bauer Parent Club meeting of the year next Tuesday, May 16, 7:30 - 8:30pm. We would love to have as many parents there as possible - your contributions make a difference! We will hear updates from staff, review our budget, discuss year-end events, recognize our wonderful volunteers and celebrate another year serving our Bauer school community!
