Lake Bluff Elementary School Family Newsletter
Fall is here! While I love the leaves changing colors, we all know that the weather may change at any given minute. We do go outside daily for recess and other activities so I cannot thank you enough in advance for ensuring that learners are prepared to go out in our ever changing weather.
As you know, next week we will have our "Walk to School Day" In preparation for that event, please remind your learners about the importance of staying safe when coming to school. We have had learners riding their bikes and scooters in the middle of the street. That is incredibly concerning. Please reinforce the importance of staying safe. We care about your learner deeply and want to ensure that we are partnering with you on behalf of their safety.
If you have not done so please sign up for conferences that are quickly approaching in October. If you are in need of an appointment, please reach out to your child’s teacher for sign-up times. Conferences for 5K to 6th grade will take place in person on both Thursday, October 20th from 12:30 until 8 pm and Friday, October 21st from 8 until 11:30 am. If you are in need of an appointment but cannot physically make it - there is a virtual option as well. Please let your child’s teacher know. 4K has an additional day on Wednesday, October 19th. There is no school for 4K on the 19th until the 21st and no school for all students on the 20th and 21st. We look forward to spending time with families discussing the progress of our students.
And for those of you that celebrate, I wish you a Happy Navratr.
Alejandra Ovalle-Krolick (Ms. O.K.)
Principal, Lake Bluff Elementary School
October 6th is Walk to School Day!
Lace up those shoes and plan on coming to school a bit early to celebrate how wonderful it is to walk to school at Lake Bluff. We'll have pencils to hand out, selfie stations with the Lake Bluff beagle, and the Shorewood High School band playing starting at 7:45.
As always, we need a few volunteers to help the event run smoothly. Please sign up here if you are interested!"

In regards to Battle of the Books, the agreement that was sent home should be signed by the student and a guardian and then returned to the Advanced Learning Department by this Friday, September 30th. At that point, teams should be formed, and students can start reading their books. Our first Battle of the Books check-in will occur the week of October 24th.
Thank you for discussing these programs with your students and urging them to register for these four fun enrichment opportunities!
We continue to think about and plan for how we can serve and challenge students, so check our resource website for additional information as well as ideas for enrichment at home. Please email us with any questions. We wish everyone all the best and look forward to working with the students this year!
