JMMS Weekly Update
March 12, 2021
Principal's Message
I would be lying if I told you that I wasn't anxious about next week. I always lose sleep before the start of school or a big event like bringing back eighty percent of our students four days a week. There are enough desks, hand sanitizer, cleaning supplies, and plastic dividers, and I continue to worry. Anxiety is something that we all contend with at some level. Your child also has anxiety to some level. What are their coping mechanisms? Here are five things they can do to cope with that anxiety.
- Become a relaxation expert. - Not with your phone or in front of the television.
- Get enough sleep, nourishment, and exercise. - GO Outside and play.
- Connect with others. - Not online : )
- Connect with nature. - Go for a hike, go to the beach, or go fishing.
- Pay attention to the good things.
This is a lesson that we can all use. I gave one of my classes a blank piece of paper with a single black dot on the page; then, I asked them to write a story about what they saw. Every paper turned in had a story about the black dot. Not one person wrote anything about the white part of the paper. We have a white paper to observe and enjoy, but we always focus on the dark spots. Our life is a gift given to us. We always have reasons to celebrate. For example, nature renewing itself every day, our friends around us, the job that provides our livelihood, and the miracles we see every day.
Ask your child what their hopes are as we return four days a week?

Drop-Off and Pick-Up
We will continue with our drop-off and pick-up schedule with a couple of modifications.
- We ask that students that have PE period one or two use the Bus Loop to drop off and that they access the PE field through the side gates.
- All other cars should use the school's main loop and pull as far forward as possible without bumping the vehicle in front of you. When the line stops we will send students to one or two of the main entrances so they can make their way to class.
- Remember to maintain social distancing and to wear your mask.
