Welcome back whanau to Term 3! We hope you all had a wonderful time with friends and family over the mid-term break. The kids have come back full of enthusiasm and the weather has certainly helped to make this week a very positive start to the term.

We have a lot of exciting programmes and adventures planned for the next 10 weeks of term 3. The Inquiry topics that each syndicate are studying this term are:

Juniors - Fur, feather, scales + STEM + Rugby World Cup

Middles - Countries of the world (tied in the with the Rugby World Cup)

Seniors - Build a Business + Speeches

We will also have a focus on fitness and exercise over the next 5 weeks as we build up our stamina for Cross Country. Our focus for each child at VS is to give their best - building resilience and a 'growth mindset' with Cross Country races - see our school goal. It is great to see each Vogeltowner giving 100% - whether they are running or walking quickly!

You will also notice some changes in property at the junior and senior school. At the junior school we have a new 'High Dependency Unit' opened in the old dental clinic behind rm 1. At the senior school we have finally broken ground for the new classroom that should be arriving in the next 3 weeks. This is a very special time for a school - it is not every day that we get to welcome a new room! Have a look below at the concept plans and photos of it being out together in Tauranga before it is transported down on three trucks.

A big Welcome to our new students and whanau to Vogeltown. We hope you enjoy your time with us!

Ava Ackerman (Rm 3), Mia Vooght (Rm 3), Joshua Gillum (Rm 3), Madhav Murria (Rm 3), and Thomas Kehely (Rm 10).

We know you will become amazing 'Vogeltowners!'

Centre City have invited our school to be part of a competition they are running during August. The posters below outline how to support our school. We will take your receipts in for you if you drop them off to Mr G at the Senior School. Go Vogeltown!

As part of our reporting to parents/caregivers on student progress, we hold Learning Conferences in Term 1 and Term 3. These will be in week 5 of this term. We always try to get 100% attendance to these conferences as they are a very important time to meet with your child's teacher and discuss the progress made so far over the year. You will also receive your child's progress report at this meeting - this will be the same report as you received in Term 1.

NOTE: Room 4 (Miss King) and Rm 13 (Mr Stirling) will have their learning conferences in term 4. We will let you know the day and time in the last 2 weeks of this term.
