Monday Morning Memo - Week 12
11/18/18 Happy Thanksgiving! What are you thankful for?
Dear Poupard Leaders,
A lot going on..
We have sooo much going on over the month. I wanted to take a moment to breakdown the different fundraisers and initiatives you're about to encounter.
Shoe Drive Fundraiser - PTO
Our PTO has put together a Shoe Drive that gives back to the less fortunate. We will be collecting shoes from November 19 - January 19th. Their goal is to donate 100 bags of shoes to this organization. The PTO would earn $1,000 if they meet that goal. I believe you will either have a box outside your door or we'll have a couple central locations to drop off donated shoes.
Chicken and Waffles Holiday Breakfast
The PTO is hosting their annual Holiday Breakfast on Saturday, December 15th. This year they will be serving Chicken and Waffles. They will be sending out a sign-up genius to materials for the event (food, waffle makers, etc). I will share a blurb with you to send out to your families directly.
Sharpen the Saw with Mr. Woz
Rob will be leading a morning exercise program for 4th and 5th grade students starting December 4th through January 31st on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00-7:45. Please let myself and Rob know if you'd be interested in assisting with these morning workouts.
Possible Popcorn Fundraiser from PTO: More information to come
Reteaching and Community Service
Thank you to Karen Gallagher and McKenzie Hebert for leading reteaches during Lunch and Recess!! For new staff members, a reteach is an opportunity where students that receive a major office referral reflect on their behavior the following day and practice the expected behaviors. An email will go out each day and identify where students should go and who they're expected to see.
Thank you to Sarah Mead and Julie Mayo for leading Community Service during Lunch and Recess! Community Service will be given to students that are having a difficult time keeping their hands to themselves. They will either assist with sweeping up the lunchroom or picking up trash outside.
Title 1
The SIT is working on putting together some options of how we'll allocate additional funds we receive annually each December. Please work with either a SIT member or grade level partner to communicate items that you believe would best serve our students needs. Our goal is to have final determinations made by December 4th.
Thanksgiving
The grind of the school year will begin to take a toll on us all. You all have been working tremendously hard. We have already accomplished so much and have a lot to celebrate. I am truly excited for whats still to come but will have to patient while we pause to refocus our attention. I hope you all use this Thanksgiving Break to connect with loved ones, recharge your bodies and mind, and focus your attention to those big rocks. I can't thank you all enough for investing your energy in our little ones and am so thankful for all of you!
Your Fan,
Ali

Magnet Nominations
Child Study search for magnet students has begun with parent notifications. Parents with students in grades 1st-4th are encouraged to nominated their child for formal clustering in math, ELA or both or for magnet fall 18-19.
*Parent nominations will be accepted through December 12th.
*Teachers nominations begin in January and will be accepted through February 6th, 2019.
Teachers, let me know if you have students that you believe would make great candidates for the magnet program.
- Please continue to send any PTO Ambassador forms to the office.
- Please share your weekly newsletters with me by "Ccing" me when they are emailed out to families. This allows for me to stay connected with all of the exciting things happening inside of your classrooms.
- Behavior Referrals must be completed using the Online Behavior Form. Staff must complete the behavior form anytime a student is sent down to the office for a major office referral. Homeroom Teachers and Special Area Teachers are responsible for contacting the family to notify them of any incidents that occurred inside of the classroom. Please call home over an email whenever possible. Personally, I'd recommend sharing anything over 3-4 sentences over a phone call as well.
