Who should be Blamed?
By: Brenton Eggers
Romeo and Juliet were love at first sight, but there were some problems with their families fighting and a miss understanding.
Friar Laurence should be to blame for the death of Romeo and Juliet because he gave Juliet a sleeping potion to act dead but she really wasn't. Romeo challenges Tybalt to a fight because Tybalt killed Mercutio, so Romeo challenges Tybalt to a fight and Romeo killed Tybalt which led up to Romeo getting kicked out of Verona. Mercutio started insulting Tybalt by saying, "...here's that shall make you dance. Zounds, consort!"(Jackson, act 3, scene 1). Friar Laurence gave Juliet a vial, a sleeping poison, to act dead so she didn't have to marry Parris, so Romeo's servent, Balthasar, heard the news about Juliet, so he went to Verona to see the funeral of Juliet. He came back to tell Romeo what happened, Romeo went to the temple in Verona where Juliet was at sleeping and said, "...your part in her life counld not keep from death, but heaven keeps his part in external life"(Jackson, Act 5 Scene 3). Romeo the grabs his poison that he had and drank every drop of it to kill himself. Friar Laurence then walks down to where Juliet's tomb is to see what was going on and see's Romeo dead on the floor next to Juliet.Juliet wakes up and see's Romeo laying there and grabs a dagger and stabs it into her stomach and dies. Friar Laurence is to blame because he gave Juliet the vial to drink so she didn't have to wake up to marry Parris and didn't tell Romeo what the plan was.
