PGE- Preparation, Goodwill, & Excellence
The Principal’s Post runs once a month with weekly updates included in the grade level newsletters. Below are the newest dates, resources, and happenings.
General Information
PGE Parents and Guardians,
As we move into our second semester academic benchmarking and campus projections for May begin; there is much to do! Our PTA has some fun events planned this spring for remote and in-person learners as well. As these events approach, I know our students will do their academic best and their creative fullest. (I know this because I see this every day! Students are inventing outside games like, "Six feet shadow tag" and clever responses to questions like, Q: "Where is your mask?" R: "Oh, I lost it from my neck place.")
Every day I am so grateful to see how the students extend humor & kindnesses to one another and how they manage themselves gracefully through these unusual events. While there are difficult situations, to be expected, I cannot say enough wonderful things about the Park Glen students. Through all of the mask wearing, same-seat arranging, schedule adopting, multiple handwashing, Zoom logging, line waiting, and social distancing they have been absolutely (absolutely) wonderful. Your children are the reason we love what we do. Thank you for giving us this opportunity to help your child grow academically and socially. We love our jobs!
Wishing you all good health and much happiness,
Marci Formby
Instructional Change: Enter form 2/4-2/11
Parents will log into the Aeries Student/Parent Portal, beginning Thursday, February 4, to access the Instructional Choice Change Request Form, which will be available through 11:59 p.m. Thursday, February 11. Any changes in instructional choice will take place beginning Monday, March 22, the first day of Keller ISD’s fourth nine-week grading period. The Texas Education Agency (TEA) requires school districts to give parents a deadline up until 14 days prior to the start of the grading period to submit instructional choice changes, so any additional requests for changes will be honored up until March 1. However, due to the Spring Break falling March 15-19, we ask that parents make every effort to submit their change February 4-11 to allow campus counselors and administrators adequate time to properly assign students to new classes. Keller ISD encouraged parents during the initial Instructional Choice selection process to make a decision for the entire school year, but were informed that they would be able to change their selected instructional choice each grading period. As the District shared over the summer, changing a student’s instructional choice at the end of the grading period will likely result in a change in the student’s schedule and/or teacher(s). Those in Special Education programs may also experience changes in campus or program relocations, depending on their specific needs.

Thank you for your continued support!
Asynchronous Calendar Days
Five early release days now asynchronous instructional days Keller ISD’s Board of Trustees approved a revision to the 2020-21 Instructional Calendar that converts five of the spring semester’s Early Release Days to Asynchronous Instructional Days. The following dates, that were to be Early Release Days, will now be Asynchronous Instructional Days: January 29, 2021, February 26, 2021, March 12, 2021, April 16, 2021, and April 30, 2021.
On these Asynchronous Instructional Days, students will not attend school in person, but will engage with their teacher at home through remote means. These days were made possible due to the Texas Education Agency recently granting school districts waivers to schedule periodic, non-consecutive Asynchronous Instructional Days during the spring. Keller ISD administrators pursued these waivers to provide teachers with additional time to prepare lessons, make instructional adjustments, or perform any other tasks that will allow them to better serve their students in the midst of the additional challenges this school year has presented.
Clayton Afterschool Childcare will be consolidated into two elementary campuses on the five asynchronous instructional days. The campuses housing the childcare are Bluebonnet & Woodland Springs. For more information, please reach out to Clayton Childcare.
Hints for Academic Success
Reading Resource: Reading A-Z
Please have your child complete a minimum of five to eight lessons each week depending on the grade level. Lesson completion provides the computer program information to automatically adjust to your child's learning needs - giving review and new information where needed.
Spelling Bee Finalists
Let's congratulate Spelling Bee finalists: 1st place Hailey Chain and 2nd place Bianca Hall. Next steps occur February 5th where Hailey Chain will compete in the Area Spelling Bee with other school champions from Keller ISD and Northwest ISD.
Good luck Hailey!!
