From Principal Goswami
Hope you had a nice week. We had a great start to the week with the Giving Campaign. We had our Student DEIB Advisory Committee meet this week and so did our Site Council. I am excited to hear everyone's voices and give them a space to discuss the important things that matter to us on campus.

Consent Assembly 2023 Parent Notification and Consent Assembly Preview Night
We will be presenting the annual PHS/MHS Consent Assembly to Freshmen and Seniors on Friday, September 29 during the Academy period.
The Consent Assembly includes dramatic presentations of Bay Area high school students’ real accounts of sexual violence and consent. The assembly fosters empathy and critical thinking by showing a variety of perspectives from students who have navigated consent –from survivor to perpetrator to bystander. The assembly also promotes a culture of inclusion by exploring various kinds of relationships and inspires students to embrace the values of affirmative consent, allyship, communication, and healthy relationships.
Parents may choose to have their students opt out of the assembly pursuant to Education Code section 51938-39. While the assembly is an important part of consent education, it is also potentially triggering for survivors of sexual harm. Counselors will be available before, during, and after the assembly, and the library will be open for anyone who needs a safe space.
The Community is invited to the Consent Assembly Preview Night on Thursday, September 28 at 7:00 p,m. in the Alan Harvey Theater in order to begin your own conversations about consent at home.
We hope that this assembly will promote conversations among peers, families, and schools that will shift culture and create a more supportive and safe community for everyone.

Audition for Musical
Auditions are happening NOW for this year’s musical, Cabaret, directed and choreographed by Amy Moorhead, with student musicians directed by new PHS band director, Trevor Meseroll. Set in a Berlin nightclub as the 1920s draw to a close, a Master of Ceremonies welcomes the audience and assures them they will forget all their troubles at the Cabaret. This show explores the dark, exhilarating, and tumultuous life of Berlin's natives and expatriates as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich (concordtheatricals.com). Important Note: Our production will include the Nazi storyline; however, we will not incorporate swastikas or military uniforms. Contact amoorhead@piedmont.k12.ca.us with any questions about the show or auditions.

- Virtual Audition Submission Deadline: Sept. 26, by 10 pm

Giving Campaign: Message from PEF
Piedmont Education Foundation’s Giving Campaign is off to a great start! Thanks to everyone who wore purple on Tuesday to show their support for our students and schools! And thanks again to Mulberry’s Market for donating the popsicles we handed out on Tuesday as part of our launch day celebration.
Your Giving Campaign letter will be arriving in your mailbox this week. Why is it so important for your family to contribute to the Giving Campaign? We need to raise an additional $2,132 per student for the next school year to make up the difference between what the Piedmont Unified School District receives from state and local taxes, and what it costs to educate Piedmont students. The Giving Campaign is the largest annual fundraiser for PUSD and our goal is to have 100% parent participation this year. Please visit us online at www.piedmontedfoundation.org/donate/ to learn how we can work together to help maintain excellence in our schools.
