LETRS Wrap Up
As we wrap up our work on LETRS Units 1-4, please keep in mind the following…
- Unit 4 – Our Provo Cohort has our full day trainings for Unit 4 scheduled on May 23 or June 1. Please make sure that you have registered for one of these dates. The MIDAS section is 60076. If you cannot attend one of these days, please use MIDAS course code 60079 to find a date that works for you. You'll need admin approval if it is a contract day.
- If you missed any of the LETRS full day training sessions (Units 1-4), please be sure to sign up for a make-up class ASAP.
- The deadline for all Units 1-4 work is June 10.
- Completion of Units 1-4 LETRS= Attendance at each Unit full day training, completion of all online modules and bridge to practice, and the tests.
K-6 Math Assessment: May 2 – May 20
District Elementary Math Interims will be administered three times per year at each grade level. The window for the EOY Growth Measure Assessment, taken on the Into Math platform, will be open from May 2nd – May 20th. All K – 6 students, including those in DLI programs, should participate in this assessment. STEM Best Practices Conference
The Utah STEM Action Center is back with its STEM Best Practices Conference! This year, it will be held on three different dates at three different locations. This is a great conference that provides an opportunity to learn about STEM Best Practices from Utah experts and leaders in our K-12 STEM community.
SEEd Standards for Secondary Courses
Final SEEd Standards are being created for:
- Anatomy/Physiology
- Genetics, Geology
- Marine Biology/Oceanography
- Meteorology
If you have expertise in one of these areas and would like to join the discussion in creating the 3D aligned SEEd Standards for the state of Utah please email:

Office of Energy Award Application 2022
This award is provided by the Office of Energy Development & UtSTA. Utah is one of the most energy-rich states and students will play a critical role in the development and use of these energies. You, the teacher, play the most important role in ensuring Utah reaches its full economic potential by providing a highly-skilled labor force and enabling the student to become the scientist. There will be an award for an Elementary teacher and a Secondary Teacher. Due September 9, 2022. Notification will be made by September 19, 2022.
USBE Secondary Mathematics Book Study Opportunities
Inviting any Utah Mathematics educator to join us in a book study opportunity. Register and receive a digital copy of the book (at no cost) as well as an invitation to join our book study community. All book studies are asynchronous, work at your own pace, and (upon successful completion of the book study coursework) 1.0 USBE Credit Hours. All work must be completed by August 30, 2022.
Flexible Learning Workshops
We are excited to offer paid workshops throughout the month of June. In these workshops, we will explore what flexible learning looks like post-pandemic, using Canvas to create differentiated learning environments to use in the classroom.
Summer Science Academy at USU
Utah State University is offering a summer learning experience for high school students interested in a career in science. The Biotechnology Summer Academy will be held this year from June 27th through July 1st, and the registration cost is $200.00. Housing, meals and materials are included in that cost. The program is capped at 12 students, and applications are due by May 20th.
RISE Science Assessment Development Opportunity
We have an upcoming item development workshop for the RISE Science assessments for grades 4-8. Workshop participants will receive a $150/day stipend, 8 relicensure points/day, plus travel reimbursement.

American Heart Association CPR & First Aid Certification for Employees
For: All Employees
The Provo City School District nurses are offering certification for American Heart Association Heartsaver K-12 CPR/AED and First Aid. This certification is valid for two years. It is required that at least three people at each school be certified in CPR & First Aid. However, certification is recommended for all school staff, especially those who work with medically fragile students.
2022 Utah System Conference
The Utah State Board of Education is holding a conference on Building Relationships to Foster Inclusive Practices. This two-day conference will be held in person at the Utah Valley Convention Center in Provo, Utah and includes a virtual component for persons who are not able to attend onsite.
ELA Standards- Draft Open for Comment
The draft of the preschool through Grade 12 Utah English Language Arts (ELA) standards are now open for public comment. You can provide feedback by clicking on the link below in person at one of these three public meetings:

Educational Technology Endorsement Class
Nebo School District is offering a hybrid course this summer for those interested in pursuing an Educational Technology Endorsement, earning 3 UVU credits, and/or just learning how to use some of our core educational technologies. The face-to-face portion runs June 13-17, with 6 weeks of online follow-up activities and assignments.
EN Mathematics e-Media Hub & Secondary Math Task Bank
UEN has a new task bank that is live on the UEN Mathematics e-Media Hub where you can access high-quality, peer-reviewed teaching resources aligned to the Utah Mathematics standards.
May 2022 Benefits Buzz – Open Enrollment Reminder
Open enrollment is coming July 21st – August 12th. Open Enrollment for Benefits and Wellness Labs will be held on:
- August 4th from 9 until 12:30 in the PDC
- August 8th from 9 until 4 in the District Office Boardroom
Chromebooks will be available, but you may bring your own laptop. We do encourage employees to enroll independently. If you have a vacation planned, make sure you don’t wait until the last minute.
If you complete Open Enrollment by the end of the day on August 5th, your name will be put into a drawing for prizes.
Suicide Prevention Training for License Renewal
PCSD’s approved Suicide Prevention Course will be the course offered by USBE. We will no longer offer the Face to Face course. Learn more on the Employee Website.
