Farewell, Mrs. Myer
Parents and Guardians: Our school secretary, Mrs. Myer, will be leaving us for an opportunity at the college level! We are excited for Mrs. Myer, and we wanted to let everyone know. Our plan was to let the students know today (Friday) at the start of the day so they would have the opportunity to say goodbye to Mrs. Myer if they wished. Friday was to be Mrs. Myer's final day at Hillside. Mother Nature had other plans, so we will not be able to offer our kiddos the opportunity to wish her farewell in person. If you or your student would like to write Mrs. Myer a note to wish her well, please know that we will have a box in the office for those. We regret we could not have the celebration we had planned. We appreciate Mrs. Myer's hard work and smiling face in our office. We will be in transition in the office, but please know Mrs. Regnier and Mrs. Ecklebe will remain to run our front office as efficiently as possible. Thank you.

Composting News
Hillside has reduced lunchroom trash bag use by half as of 1-18-19. We composted 676 pounds of material in just one week, and the landfill diversion rate for our waste in the lunchroom is 79%!
For perspective, a 90% diversion rate or more is considered zero waste; this means we are just 11% from having a “zero waste lunch.” As we continue to compost, we will be looking ahead to additional measures we can take to recycle in the lunchroom.
Hillside Solutions manager, Brent Crampton, reports that the landfill diversion rate for Hillside is among the highest he has seen! Keep up the good work, Hillside!
HyVee Receipts Wrap-Up
Hillside's Community Club collected receipts from HyVee which earned our school around $260. Thanks to Community Club for this effort to benefit our school.
