3rd Grade News
September 8, 2016
Third grade is off to a great start! In Math we are reviewing second grade concepts including place value, comparing numbers and counting money. We have also started our first unit in Science - Matter and Energy. Last week we conducted experiments using magnets and discussed how magnets both push and pull. This week the students constructed parachutes and learned about gravity and air resistance. In Language Arts we continued our introduction of reading workshop, picking the just right book and staying engaged while reading. We are working on drafting a friendly letter during writing workshop. Our social studies lessons have been focused on learning map skills and identifying various landforms. The students have jumped right in and have done a beautiful job learning the third grade schedule and routines. Thank you for sending your child ready to learn each day and for taking the time to attend parent orientation last week. Please remember that our start time is 7:45! We appreciate our teacher apple gift items very much. You are a fantastic bunch!
